Hi, I've already posted for this problem but I think I have a clearer understanding of my problem. I just bought an 84 Honda Shadow VT700. The bike has clutch issues. The clutch works fine during about 10-15 minutes of riding, then eventually fails to fully catch. It still goes through the gears, but the discs fail to grab and eventually, the bike won't move at all. But, if I immediately bleed the clutch line, the clutch works fine again. I just bought a 1984 shadow vt700. The bike rode fine the first time I took it out, but then started developing some issues. The clutch suddenly was not engaging and the engine would rev up in first gear and barely move. I bled the clutch and it worked fine again. I drove it for some 20 miles, stopped in at a store and the clutch was back to its former state of not working correctly. I have a 98 ace tour (teal & cream) 14,000 miles on it. When I shift from 1st into 2nd gear , I get a sound like the gears in the transmission are not secronized properly. It's not hard to shift, if I keep me speed low and shift it doesn't make the noise very often, but if I get my speed up and get on It a little bit then shift it makes the noise. Stiffer clutch wanted

I have experienced the slipping clutch problem on the Tourer and I would like to replace my clutch with a stiffer one. I have looked at the other threads and Barnett clutches and heavy duty springs seem to be the favorite. I would like to hear where people have bought the parts and what the part numbers are. When checking out the links, they never list the parts for a T ( probably because it is out of production).

Changed tire-Now Final Drive noise

I just installed a new E3 tire on the rear and put the wheel back on. When I took it out for a test ride, I noticed a noise coming from the final drive. It was noticeable when I was slowing to a stop (due to less noise from the exhaust). So I could hear it while coasting to a stop with the clutch in or in neutral. Seems recently when I come to a stop sign and then try to shift into low gear, sometimes the gears are jammed up a bit. This is a minor problem and every Honda I have owned seems to do this occasionally. If I let the clutch out just a bit and then try again I can shift. However this seems to happen more often of late. I'm wondering if this is something I should be concerned about?

I have 23,000 miles on my bike, I ride a lot of high mountain passes up to 10,000 feet. Sometimes with 450 to 475 pounds 2 up + gear. I have never been happy with the performance of the clutch. Is this the correct Barnett clutch part numbers: Clutch HPK-40K(9) and clutch spring MT-14-5? Also, does anyone make a stiffer spring than the Barnett spring? thanks in advance for the help. I have a 98t and have a slipping clutch, i have already adjusted it out as far as it will go. I would like to know what components i should replace (friction discs, springs, metal plates ect...) i have done harley clutches before but never a honda clutch so any advice on what to expect would be great.

I finally got fed up with the way my T was shifting. So I pulled off the side cover and did a major adjustment to it. Now I read the manual where it says free play should be about 3/4" but, theres always a but it is now releasing the clutch as soon as I start letting go of the clutch handle. Taller gearing

I would like to have my motor running a little lower RPM's on the freeway. Is there any way to do this on a T. I like the revs at 55 but 70 the vibes creep in more than I would like. I find myself looking for a 6th gear often. Am I the only one? I know that any change in the final drive will affect all gears, but the T is geared so low in first I could stand to give up some of it. Is 500 rpm a lot to ask for? Thanks, Matt

As I just posten in another section my "T" has 25K on her and I have the primary gear tic I've heard so much about. It's not bad enough for other riders or cage drivers to notice but I can clearly hear it when at idle if I lean down and listen. I can also hear it if I'm in my garage without a helmit on.
