My younger brother Phil (The Motorcycle Encyclopedia Man) just called me to tell me that he has lost another bid on buying his dream bike off of ebay. My brother has been actively searching for the past year for a 80's Yamaha Venture Royale. He has lost a couple of bids on ebay, due his really not knowing how ebay worked. I posted an introduction when I joined the forum a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday I finally bought my T. Its a 1999 ACE Tourer. It only had 4,854 miles on it when I got it. I guess the guy I got it from never rode it. I was able to get the seller down to $5000. Anyway, I'm tickled to death with it. It has a backrest on it and Jardine slip-ons. I got a frantic email from my cousin in Atlanta saying his 98 ACE Tourer had died and wouldn't charge the battery. He had lost his job due to layoffs and his car was overheating. The bike was his main transportation. After a few hours on this forum I had a good idea what to look for. The white connector for the stator wires had melted into a large glob of goo. i'm a little curious about the differences between the T and other shadow models. when i bought Halfbreed, i was surprised to find it had drum rear brakes(spirit model), but the aero i just bought is three years older and it has disc on the rear. what does the T have and also wondered about the wheelbase. have tried to find the T's, but can't locate those specs. the aero has a 61.1" wheelbase and it seems i remember reading someplace it was 1" longer than other models....

just would like some feedback from you all...
Seller started at 5995, came down right away to 5500. I offered 4000. He came back & said that was lower the the shop would give him outright; I countered w/ 4500, based on both NADA & KBB info....
It's a 2000 T, with 14K miles... He adds it has Cobra light bar, Jardine pipes, "and a carb kit," he says that makes "better sound & better fuel economy."

did it again. since i couldn't find a T, decided to start looking for another aero. found a beautiful '98 one owner with 10k miles today and brought it home. couldn't believe how nice the bike was. always garaged and covered and he said he was surprised he'd never rubbed through the paint as much as he kept it waxed.

3 Yellow wires Burned

Before you get serious about rideing this summer lift the wire bundle at the front of the air cleaner and check the yellow wires connector, if your lucky it will only be a light tan, if your unlucky like me you'll find a black gob of what used to be the connector, it's under ALL the wires, I lost my alt. and now have to replace it. Cut tho es wires and solder them before it's too late, it's a well known fact that the connector sucks so check it.

Am I the only T-ridin' chick who posts on this forum? You know, women riders have special needs! We need to discuss what kind of makeup won't run in our eyes when we get caught riding in the rain, how to keep the snarls out of our hair while riding, what color jacket will co-ordinate with our T's paint, etc. NOT!!! Moto Guzzi ride

I'm in Brussels this week for work. My company has a partner here in Belgium and one of the guys from the company took me for a ride on his '72 Moto Guzzi. It was a fun ride. I haven't ridden on the back of a bike in a long time.
Now I'm sitter here watching snooker on the BBC. What kind of low have a fallen to?
I suppose I could be watching something else, but my French is terrible.

Lowering a 99 Ace Tourer

I am attempting to lower my 99 Ace Tourer for my wife and need some suggestions. I have put the original factory seat back on the bike, but since it is so wide, I really didn't gain anything. I have been told that I can only lower the shocks by about 1/2 - 3/4" and that if I change the tires to a lower profile I may gain about 1/2". Has anyone attempted this, and if so, what did you do and how much did you gain. My wife is only 4'11", so see my dilema.

Well as always wanting more juice out of the T's stator.I was talking with my good friend about his Harley and his came with two option of a power from the alt/stator. He got the highest output.So we started looking in his parts manual and the difference wasn't the stator it was the flywheel.There were two different flywheels- the more powerful one had more magnets inside.So I went to Ron Ayers parts

Well ,I'm getting that lifter sound near the crank -so I hope my diagnosis is right and it is the primary gear.I'm getting it replaced the first of the week.What I don't understand is why the noise doesn't go away when you pull in the clutch.I thought those springs where there to help with the action of the clutch
