Long Distance Riding

Ok, So Wenchy and I are planning a long ride. Maybe 2 weeks. We've identified a few key items that need work for long distance comfort. We are not looking to spend thousands modifying the bike so we are hoping the for practical suggestions.

#1 Are there any options less expensive than Mustang for comfy seats? I'm good with the old AirHawk pad but Wenchy is NOT ok with the scrawny passenger seat. Looking for cost effective suggestions... (a happy Wenchy is a frisky Wenchy)....

Aluminum Auxilliary Tank Modification

For those of you who want to go further than 120 miles without stopping, the Tourer tank just won't get you there. Because of the limited number of bikes made, no one offers an aftermarket auxilliary tank to fit anywhere in the frame (not that there is room). First Long (?) Distance Ride on the Tourer

I picked up my '99 Tourer on Friday, and rode it the 50 miles home. I decided that it was mechanically in great shape and I put a little faith in good old Honda engineering. I decided to ride it on the pre-planned trip that was scheduled for the next two days. I managed to put over 500 miles on it, between Saturday and Sunday.

Of those 500 miles, we did about 325 miles in the rain. Naturally, the start and finish were dry, but everything else was in the rain. We...

It has been a while Tourer Bros. I am planing a trip to Branson MO early Oct. We will trailer the bike from Michigan and ride day trips out of Branson. I know some of you had a rally in Eureka Springs in the past. I am looking for great rides and looks for day trips if someone can help. I know the days will be shorter in Oct. but i am hoping to see some color in the trees also.

Tried to get to Whistler today, the site for the 2010 Winter Olympics, but encountered rain, so I turned around and came home. Will try again this Monday.

Question about fuel stops between Winnemucca and Boise

Hello,

I am going to be taking the T on a road trip next week and one leg of the trip is up 95 from Winnemucca NV to Boise ID. I know there arent many towns along this route. So hoping someone can recommend fuel stops. I have done a bunch of searching online and think I have a few ideas of where there are gas stations, but I appreciate any help from those who have actually done the ride.

Fraser Canyon BC

Since Marmon007 mentioned about the BC mountians, here is some more of BC I recently took on a trip I took alone.

Fraser Canyon for some reason the pictures are listed in reverse order, maybe that did it?

Going from the Coast mountian at the mouth of the Fraser, to the Thomptson River valley and the Cariboo.

I swore I would go until my gas card company said "declined". Well that never happened, but after 10 days and 3,000 miles I am home again. Down to Atlanta for family and baseball. Back to NY to mow the grass and laundry. Then off to the great state of Maine for a long 4th week end. Back to New York and my job is still here (not necessarily a good thing...). The tourer performed better than a dream. I did as much as 750 mile in one day and don't regret it. I now have no fear...

The ride was over a week ago, but it took me that long to get over the glee of the trip. So I'm posting it now. I left White Plains, NY at noon on Friday, 4/17. It was a beautiful 55 ish sunny degrees all the way. I picked up a fellow rider in Old Orchard Beach, ME on the way up and we landed at our destination of Bangor at 8 pm (445 miles for those that want to know). WHAT A RIDE! My father likes to ride ridiculously long distances, so for his Birthday I am going to plan an Iron Butt Association ride (1000 miles in 24 hours or less!!). I'm going show him the plans on his birthday in late April, and hopefully be able to do the ride in mid May, depending on weather. I need help trying to plan the ride. Here in the frozen norhtland, my wanderlust is getting the better of me. I am considering a run from MN up to Alaska.
Has anyone done the AlCan lately ?
There is a ton of great info out there, but so much seems to depend on the year - mainly road conditions and what is under construction at any given time. I hate riding gravel, and hear of the potential for many miles of it.

Also - Can any of our Canadian friends in Alberta and B.C. comment on best time to travel...
