Does the Tourer lean toward the hot side?

My Tourer runs hotter than any of the two other water cooled bike I've owned. Does the Tourer run on the hot side normally? I am just judging by the amount of heat the engine radiates at the end of a ride. I have checked the reserve tank and it fluid up to the upper mark. I am concerned that I should remove the radiator cap and make sure it is filled up to the neck. I'm going to call this post a "Cooling System" one but I don't really believe that is what I have. I've never read anyone having a similar condition so this may be new to me and not you.

Boiling Overflow Bottle

Why is my overflow bottle boiling? This is NOT during a long period of stop-and-go traffic, but just regular riding. I don't seem to be losing coolant - no large, green pools under the bike in the morning. The fan works, because I can hear it start and stop.

Any ideas?

I plan some major work this weekend - filters (all of them) oil, new tires, plugs, etc. Is there anything special I should look for which might explain the boiling coolant?

Melting Side Cover

This forum has eased some of my concerns over my T melting the radiator shroud and reflector on the right hand side of the bike. Several other T owners have reported a similar experience and nobody seems to be too concerned about it. Has anyone had the right-hand side cover melt? I have owned my T for a little less than a year now and I have several concerns about various items. The melting side-cover is just one of them. Should I be concerned?

Well now it's my turn... Is there anything special about the O-rings on the cross-over tube? I have several o-ring kits that should have whatever size they are. Is it 91310-MB0-003 If not anyone have the part number ?

Reserve tank question - Help!

Here's how it all started.

I couldn't see the level of the coolant in the reserve tank, so off I go to buy some and top it off.

Added a little, still couldn't see it. Kept adding and not seeing it until it overflowed. I loosened the filler tube and drained little off, but after running it for a few minutes, I've developed a leak. It appears to be from under the cap on the filler neck.

First... shouldn't you be able to see the level in the tank?

Melted Reflector

Ok, Who all has a Melted reflector on the right side of the bike? I just removed mine and replaced them with bolts and pretty acorn nuts. So the right side is melted but the left one is in great shape and is free to whomever likes the reflectors and has been wanting to replace there melted reflector. Let me know who and where to ship it and it's yours free of charge I'll even pay shipping

Coolant leaking at crossover joint

Well, Well, Well. I just read the answers to this question in the post by ace20001956. Duh is me.

Can any of you help me fix this leak between the jugs? The manual shows the two clips and two o-rings but does not detail how to remove and replace. I am not a mechanic by any means. My dilemma is not knowing just how to get into that area. Do I need to start at the top removing carburetors and work my way down to the joint? Is there some way to come in from the side and remove...

Good Ol Problems back again

Ok drained the radiaitor and coolant system, took radiator to get repaired and flushed out. Got it back after flushing the block and overfill tank put everything back together and proceeded to pour 2.1 quarts into the radiator fill neck, at about 1 and a 1/2 quarts it starts to fill up and i spill a little bit out of the neck. i figure ok i'll just start the bike and see if it makes it go down, well so far still full and now it's got smoke or just visible steam coming from somewhere around...

Ok i have alot of problems and to make it simple i'll say them all here. #1 I am Spilling Coolant out of the Overlow Drain tube. It was 30 degree riding conditions so i don't believe it overheated the idiot light never turned on. Ideas? and Problem #2 kuryaken ISO grips. I cannot get the damned throttle cables re attached 1 or the other not both. guys i'm not that mechanical I need your wisdon and expirience

Radiators

Had pin hole in radiatorthe other day ! Had local shop weld it.
The first weld broke under pressure. second weld seems to be holding. does anybody have any ideas where to get new radiators for the T without spending 700.00 for one from the dealer??????? would like a new or used one for a spare just in case.

Antifreeze

I have found 4 drops of antifreeze if the bike is on side stand sitting on bike the front cylinder down on top of the transmission case on the chrome is where it has been I have looked and looked i can not see where it is coming from anyone have an idea or ran into this before it is not low on water not running hot and I know it is antifreeze it has a sweet taste.

Cooling Fan "ON" Light

I searched the site but could not find anything on this. I was riding the other night and thought that I could hear my fan running. I was going about 45 MPH and leaning over the side to see if the fan was spinning or not. When I got home I thought about how dumb that is to be watching a fan instead of traffic so I thought that I might hook up a light and mount it on the handlebars to tell me when the fan is on. I went to Honda of W-S to get the Honda pre-mixed anti-freeze. There was none on the shelf. The guy checked with someone else at the parts counter, and sent me home with a gallon of Amsoil Anti-Freeze, assuring me it was fine for use with my '98 ACE T. I read the label this morning, and it is "low silicate", and purple. It says it is suitable for aluminum engines, blah blah blah. Do I hear a "DON"T DO IT!" or "Mix and add."??? Testing cooling fan/thermo switch

I've owned my '98 T since last October and I don't think I've ever heard the fan come on. It has plenty of coolant and it runs great! Is there any way to force the fan to come on or to test the thermo switch? Could I have a thermostat that's stuck open?

Temperature Idiot Light

Hope I don't somehow goof this up as I am new to this board. Anyway... I bought a '99 Tourer a couple of weeks ago. It's in pretty much cherry condition but I have noticed that the temp idiot light in the speedo does not light when the key is turned on without starting the engine. Anybody have any suggestions as to thing I might check, how difficult it is to get at the bulb (actually it looks like an LED) etc.

Coolant Leak

I have a problem, I found Coolant leaking from a seam between the front jug and the bottom case. Has anyone had this experience before? Could this be a tourque problem and could I fix it by re-tourquing the head bolts. If not, any suggestions? Thanks, I know somebody out their has a answer.

Radiator Repair

Well I thought my T was ready for another summer, new rubber new a lot of things but now I discovered some coolant drips and today I had the bike running for what I thought was long enough to get the fan going and it never did. I got one question for someone who has a perfectly running T, when you turn on the ignition does the temp light in the speedo light up? the neutral light and kickstand light come on but not my Temp light have I got multiple problems????

Quick history - 2000 T with 9k miles.
December 2003 in slow moving traffic on 65 degree day she started to dump coolant from overflow. No warning . Idiot light on speedo never came on.
