I signed up with Southern Cruisiers here in my own county. It seems like there are a lot of officers with titles but no activities. Now the next county over has a ton of acitivites going but there are just too far away to get involved with. So I'm no further ahead than I was before.

Interesting that it sounds difficult to find a non-snob group to join or ride with. Here in SW Michigan I think most of us are just glad to have a few months to enjoy riding. Energy Tuesday evening there are three groups that I know of that take a group ride. Two are just to ride and one is an association (CMA) that welcomes anyone to ride with them. Nobody seems to care about what you ride or where you bought your bike. We ride with the CMA because we know this local chapter ride always...

Andy, despite ABATE Ohio's statement I wonder if in their eyes if you do not own a Harley if it better to not own a bike or to own any brand other than Harley. Do they welcome Victory riders into their group?

It goes farther than that. My sisters friend wanted to buy a HD a few years back. She went to Southeast HD and they wouldn't give her the time of day. She walked out and bought her HD from Heritage HD. She was pleased with their attention and her bike.

She wanted to join the Southeast HOG club but was shunned because she bought her HD from a 'foreign' dealership. To her credit she told them...

Fred / Dan.....I was not aware that the V Rod and Sportster owners were being looked down upon by the Harley crowd. I don't understand the psychology of the mind in how this crowd must think. What's more it really doesn't concern me. Like is too short to be concerned about people who are so short-sighted.

Thanks for all your imput. I was just diasppointed that a club that I was intending to join had that type of attitude. The first two letters in ABATE stands for "American Bikers". To me that means ANY one that rides a motorcycle. Not someone who rides a certain type of bike. We decided not to join because of this attitude. At the time we were also told "We are lucky that they have the 'Import' class. I don't understand this type of attitude and don't need to put myself into...

I know a couple of guys that were very, very disappointed in the treatment they received from their "fellow" HOG riders after bleeding through the nose for thier shiney new Sportsters. They were even more disappointed to discover that they could have had a bike like mine for less than half of what they had...

That seems aptly stated Alain.

What I find hilarious are the H-D owners who very reluctantly consider V-Rods Harleys. They categorize them as German Harleys because Porsche designed the engine.

I believe those are the same insecure H-D owners that look down their nose on other H-D owners who do not have the largest V-Twin for the model year. In other words they treat Sportster owners as second-class citizens. Is there any hope for a person like that?

Interesting aregument about being "owned" by a foreign company. By that discription, many American factories cause their products to be "foreign". For example, Crysler, Jeep, Dodge, Firestone tires ... etc.... In addition, certain models of GM and Ford are imported. Many other "american" companies are now foriegn owned.

Interesting note, when selling computers to the government the last few screws being installed in an American plant qualified and met...

We went to a shindig put on by the ABATE of Ohio - Region Zero this past weekend. We had a great time, but there was something that came up during the weekend I am curiou s about. When they were announcing the results of the bike show, (I didn't enter mine) I found that out that they don't consider the T to be made in the US.
