i get my studs at tandy leather, but somebody, not sure it was on this forum, said they found them at hobby lobby. tandy leather now has a "motorcycle" section if you have one near you, it's worth the trip just to look around. later, bud

Not to hijack the thread too much but where did you get the studs? I've checked the local Ben Franklin store but no luck.

my areo reflector had not melted, but i never liked the looks of the reflectors on the cover and i have studded everything, so i took the cover off, marked it and drilled small holes that i could push stud tips through and studded it. you can just barely see them in this photo. later, bud

I got my first "T" in 2001 at the same time a friend also got one. After a trip from Ohio to Washington his melted like ice cream in the hot sun. My never did anything! I sold it with over 16,000 mile on it and never had the problem, or any others. I have owned 10 or so other bikes in the past and have to say the "T" is the best by far.

Don't replace your reflector, replace your exhaust! I'm not sure why, but Vance & Hines head pipes don't melt that reflector, and I warm up my bike the whole time I'm suiting up in the morning. My theory is that the V&H are so free-breathing that the exhaust doesn't have time to hang around and heat up the pipe as much. Ah, Vance & Hines, is there anything you can't do?

Wistful, only if you let it idle too long also. By idle too long, I'm talking about letting it run too long with the choke on or the throtle lock engaged to speed warm ups. If the bike is not moving, then there is no air movement to help cool the head pipes down. I have seen the headpipes turn cherry red durring a fast idle at night. It's that reflective red heat that melts the reflectors, and in some cases the radiator cover as well. Of course, accidentally melting your radiator...

How glad I am to find THIS thread!! Mine's melted too, came w/ the bike that way. Is that ok, did someone idle it too long, what's up with THAT??
I don't want another reflector, that'll just melt too right?

You have a melted reflector? did you already replace it? and do you want my 1 good one to replace it with? I don't want anymore I removed them and as far as I'm concerned good riddance. so I have 1 good reflector to give away for free and free shipping. just tryin to help out

Yea when you let your T idle too long I've heard the heat from the exhaust melts it, and mine was melted when I got it

Ok, Who all has a Melted reflector on the right side of the bike? I just removed mine and replaced them with bolts and pretty acorn nuts. So the right side is melted but the left one is in great shape and is free to whomever likes the reflectors and has been wanting to replace there melted reflector. Let me know who and where to ship it and it's yours free of charge I'll even pay shipping
