My local bike mechanic installed my hitch two years ago and he is no longer around so I can't ask him this question.
Does the hitch use the bike hardware? I don't want to take the hitch off and discover that I am missing hardware to put the bike back together with. I did not get any "extra" pieces when he did the project.
The mechanic I used was great but way to cheap. He only charged me $25.00 to install the hitch. I don't do this very often but I told him his rates were too...

I am kind of torn on this one Jay. While I sold my trailer, I still may want to keep the hitch in case I ride with someone who has a trailer and has problems with their bike or maybe I will one day tow again. I just may keep it for no other reason that it adds some real nice chrome to the butt end of the T. I will keep an eye out for you Jay. Bob

There is a crossover tube that goeas around behind the tire and connects the 2 saddlebag hardwares together. It has to be removed to install the hitch. Did he not give you this after the install? I don't think it is absolutely needed. There were suppose to be some plugs with the hitch that installed in place of the crossover tube. Mine did not have the plugs so I did nothing and have no prolem with the bags. You should not either. Why are you removing the hitch? Getting out of the trailer...
