Well, Well, Well. I just read the answers to this question in the post by ace20001956. Duh is me.
Can any of you help me fix this leak between the jugs? The manual shows the two clips and two o-rings but does not detail how to remove and replace. I am not a mechanic by any means. My dilemma is not knowing just how to get into that area. Do I need to start at the top removing carburetors and work my way down to the joint? Is there some way to come in from the side and remove the clips...

It looks like the BarsLeak did the trick!
After I got back from the Hoot my reservoir was empty. (My radiator fan was still cycling on and off so there was still plenty of coolant left.) I drained
some coolant and put in about 1/3 of a small bottle of Bars leak. I filled the radiator back up and ran the bike at idle for about 20 minutes. Next, I
completely drained the coolant from the bike (this was overdue) and put in a third of the BarsLeak in followed by a couple of quarts of...

I've been having the "leak" problem up at the top since I started riding this spring. It only leaks briefly when the bike is cold. I took it to
a mechanic who didn't want to touch it because the problem was "intermittent." His advice was that it would probably work itself out--or get
worse. If it got worse, I should bring it back.
I thought about using BARS Leak. Seemed like the easiest thing to do, so I wanted to try that first. I'm glad to see that...

Good point Stan, we have to stay away from the silicate based antifreezes to avoid damaging the water pump. I visited BARS website and got this information
from the MSDS sheet and Tech Sheet. MSDS: Contains Deionized water, Organic Material, Soda Ash, Ethylene Glycol, Preservative, Sodium Hydroxide. Bar's
Leaks Stop Leak and Conditioner is compatible with both conventional green (silicate-based) and extended life red/orange or yellow (OAT) antifreeze. From what
I can glean from this info....

The water pump on a Honda has such close tolerances that the factory warns against using std auto coolant because of the silicates in it. The silicates can
damage the pump. I was a little skeptical when you said you added Bars Stop Leak to you motorcycle, but since the mechanic suggested it, I would assume he knew
that there would be no problems adding it.

I was faced with the similar leak last riding season mostly as the temps got cooler. It would leak until it warmed up then was OK. I just stuffed some paper
towels between the jugs to catch the drips and give me time to think about a plan of action. I ordered the replacement O rings and ran the repair past my
motorcycle mechanic. He's a Honda guy and recommended since it wasnt a severe leak to try some Bars Stop Leak. I was all for saving his time and labor so
went that path. I removed...

No dealer in my area keeps the o-rings in stack so I had to wait a few days for their delivery. My youngest son, Matt, was very curious regarding the telephone
wire for the o-ring installation. When he saw that it took me less than 30 seconds to put each o-ring on he was astonished. So was I! What a GREAT tip. The
bike is up and running with no nuisance leaks between the jugs.

I pulled everything apart yesterday and the long handled needle-nose pliers really helped. The tips of the pliers I bought at Sears Hardware are very narrow so
I was able to grip the old o-rings and just pull on it until it broke. WD40 and a toothbrush for clean-up is done. Now I just go to the stealer today to get
the o-rings and the coolant. I'll finish the repair tonight and ride tomorrow!

You'll need to buy new coolant and new O-rings for the tube from your dealer. There's one on each end of the tube. A pair of long handled needle nose
pliers is a really big help, but can be done with a std size set if you have plenty of patience. This sounds harder than it really is, but here goes;

Drain the coolant from the engine. You may need to refer to the manual for this.
