I bought my '98 T in Oct, 2007. It came with a HD bat wing fairing. The previous owner made custom brackets to mount it to the forks. The windshield is
originally from the T. The bike took a nasty fall and scratched up the windshield. I need to buy a taller windshield. My head bounces around in the wind. I
tried it without the windshield and all of the wind hit me in the throat. That wasn't very comfortable after 20 minutes, so I put the beat-up windshield
back on. I have...

Welcome to the forum, Tag327. Most of these bat wing type fairings can be purchased on ebay. Look under Harley Davidson parts for a good used one. You will
have to modify the lower head light surround portion of it, but I have seen them go for under $100 with minor damages to it.

Having ridden behind windshields and fairings of all sizes and descriptions I have to admit the fairing that seemed to me to be the best all round for wind protections, storage capacity, "handiness", and not detracting from the bikes performance was an old Vetter Windjammer on a Suzuki GS850. I would look on ebay and see if I could find one. You would have to come up with your own mounts but that shouldn't be a problem for you high-steppers.

That might be a good price, but I would still have to replace the rest. They have one for the 800 Nomad for $700. Don't know if that is a good price or not, but it's still a lot. That is gloss black with black hardware and a windshield. I can replace the missing shield for the FLH for $100, but don't know how much the hardware...
