I have been kicking around the idea of getting a solo bike for sometime. It will be a while before I get my Maggie is rebuilt, so I thought I would buy another one in the mean time. I have been interested in a Victory, but don't know much about them or what kinds of problems there were with the older ones. I am sure someone here have experience, know of web resources or at least opinions.

Nice machine Dano. Congrats for having the b--las to step out from the usuual amnd ride a relatively new machine on the market. That mileage seems
impossibly low, but then many posers bikes spends 99.9% of their time setting safely in a garage.

Dano.....the V looks great. I'll be interested in hearing a full road report if you care to make one. With 200 miles on it, it is probably too soon to
tell one from the other. appreciably I mean.

Well, Last week I went and did it. Bought a this V92C with 600 miles on it. It rides great, now has over 800 on it. This will be my local bike and the T
will be our Touring bike. I don't want to start comparing the two, they both are great in their own right.

I've demo'd several Victory's. I have to agree with Chicago's comments of the Touring Cruiser feeling "very heavy off the stand". I
too found it felt heavy and ungainly at low speeds. I should add that I did have a passenger (my wife) on board for all my Victory demo's. As I've
posted before on this forum my favorite was the Kingpin, set up with hard bags, windsheild, lowers and Victory's upgraded touring seat. Power, handling and
comfort got two thumbs...

The old Victory bagger was called the Touring Cruiser. I demo-rode one and it was ok and all, but it was very heavy off the stand.
Also, Victory uses a single balance shaft and as Fred can tell ya, it takes two shafts to smooth out a single-crank V-Twin. So where a Harley shakes a ton at idle and smooths out as it revs, the Victory shakes a little bit, all the time. I really wasn't a big fan of that.

Have you thought about a 1985 1100 Shadow? Split-crank engine, 6-speed tranny,...

I have always been interested in Victory's bagger, the one that has large hardbags, but is no longer in production. I think the first year the bags leaked, but the good thing about Victory is they are diligent about wanting to make their products better. The first few years their bikes were on the market they were making 200-300 small changes a year to get them first-rate. I have not visited the Victory forums but would definitely do so if I was going to buy one any time soon, just to see...

From what I know of Victory, some of the early models had transmission problems. There was a recall to fix them so most were repaired. My neighbor behind me has a Victory and he loves it. The bike sounds great and he said it has plenty of power and comfort for long rides.
Jay
