Good lessons.. If a person doesn't try to stay informed and have a voice in their own care they are at the mercy of whatever the latest drug rep has "informed" the Dr of, along with whatever the newest craze is in diagnoses. The Dr's probably mean well, but far to many of them don't stay informed, independent of what Drug reps tell them, are too pressed for time, or are just going through the motions of their daily routines.. if you find yourself in this situation, challenge the doctor and keep challenging them. And listen to your body. I don't care how educated they are, believe me, your know more than they do.

Amen Andy....and kudos to you for saying something all along. Now if your doctor had been paying attention to what you were saying you would have been spared all of this.

I've told my own story many times here and I'll not bore everyone again retelling...

Ever since my first stent in 1999, the doctors have been pushing drugs on me left and right. One that I've been taking since 2000 was Altace. My doctor at the time said a study had shown that taking 10mg of Altace daily helped prevent heart attacks. I followed his advice, started on 2.5mg daily, then up to 5mg but when I tried to jump to 10mg my body revolted. Went back to 5mg and stayed there for 5-6 years.

Last year I complained to my doctor, telling him I had a metalic taste...
