My only contact with Lou was here on the forum but I still considered him a close friend. I do wish I could have had the honor of meeting him face to face. I just noticed as I was writing this, the picture of Lou's beloved Halfbreed was scrolling by on the ticker. I miss you dear friend.

Lou was a friend to everyone he came into contact with. I knew him only from the forum and a few short phone calls, he made me feel like we'd known each other for years. His postings on the HSATF were always entertaining, educational or loaded with advice. I know he watches down upon us all with a big smile. His life was full and he helped to fill ours.

Don't know if I already said this or not, but last year it seemed like Lou was 'willing himself to live' until the end of the ES rally. Maybe, just one more chance to see as many of his friends as he could, before he lost his battle. I've notice this trend while reading the death notices (not a hobby, just scan to see if any friends or their parents have moved on). It seems a couple days after a major holiday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Passover... many...

I am finding myself terribly distracted today and I cannot seem to focus on my work. It was one year ago tomorrow that I lost my Almost Brother and all of us lost our dear friend Lou (hombldr). My Almost Brother and I shared many many similarities in our lives and it seemed like fate brought us together here on the forum. I believe that it was Lou that gave us the feeling of Brotherhood here on the forum and treated all of us like we were his brothers.

Words of the nature that are being spoken/written here can only come from those whose hearts and lives have truly been touched by someone special. There is no doubting how special Lou is to all of us. I believe that he gave each of us a little piece of himself while he was here so we would never be without him. I have been fortunate to have my Daughter as my Guardian Angel. Now even more so because I can feel our Brother Lou looking over my shoulder helping to take care of me as well....

I've never met Lou personally, but through the interaction here in the forums, I feel I knew him pretty well. A very considerate and passionate person, whom we will miss dearly.

I will stand by the words that came to mind while talking to Alain.

Lou got the jump on us all. He will be taking advantage of his lead to the next world to have scouted out the good trails. The scoundrel could have waited for the rest of us so we could all start exploring together.

I will carry Lou in my heart for the rest of my days. My only regret is in having become fast friends so late. I would like to have known him in his flying days too.

There is enough posts on this forum alone to write a book about Lou. The biggest part of who he was can be found in the Riders and Flyers threads. Most of the times that I've talked to him, he was either telling of his days as a pilot, or his times on a motorcycle. He always had a story about life to tell for which he lived a full and complete one. He was that type person that you never got tired of listening to, or being around. Lou's body had gotten prematurely old and worn out from...

Alain it was so sad to read your post concerning Lou's passing. Though I never met him in person I knew him well through this forum. I believe he will continue to be a part of HSATF if only in spirit and our memories. He will be missed.

I am very sorry to hear the sad news. Less than 3 months ago he drove me through across the Huckleberry Ridge State Forest in his fun, little Miata. I am very glad I got to meet him in the flesh before he passed on. I will miss his wit and wisdom. Those things don't grow on trees...

It is so extremely sad for me to tell you all this, but my dear 'Almost Brother' Lou (hombldr) gave up his valiant fight for life Thursday afternoon.

Lou's wife Lori called me a few moments ago to tell me the terrible news that Lou has finally crossed over to new world that awaited him. Lori was at his side, and encouraged him to make his big step to peace and freedom from his pain and suffering.
