This forum has eased some of my concerns over my T melting the radiator shroud and reflector on the right hand side of the bike. Several other T owners
have reported a similar experience and nobody seems to be too concerned about it. Has anyone had the right-hand side cover melt? I have owned my T for a
little less than a year now and I have several concerns about various items. The melting side-cover is just one of them. Should I be concerned?

Yes, I mean the fake oil pan / tool crib. I would not know what else to call it but the "side cover"? At least SOMEONE else has experienced the
problem. T's are so rare that it is not like I can look at a dozen of them at any single motorcycle event to see if anyone else is experiencing the same
problem. I have noted a couple other T's with melted reflectors but none with any blistering on the side cover. At this point I am under the impression

SOB!!! Mine is melted too! I was taking a little look see to figure out what you meant about side cover melting. I noticed a little bluing at the rear
header and as I was checking that out, I noticed the edge of the side cover all blistered. Damn. I have VH pipes and even though PO told me it was rejetted,
I don't think so. Any recommendations?

My bike has never reached those temps, at least that I know of. I replaced the plastic radiator shroud with a chrome one so I have not had any melt. Is your

Stan, thanks for the response. Having a fair amount of motorcycle experience, I would like to think that I know better than to let the bike sit at idle for
long periods of time. I should have noted that all the damage that I have mentioned happened to the bike prior to my ownership. I speculate that the previous
owner(s) let this bike sit at idle for a very long period of time to get the side-cover to melt but I am still curious if ANYONE else have ever experienced
this? I suspect the bike...

Are you letting the bike sit at idle for long periods such as during warm ups. The shroud is melting because of the heat that is generated from the front
exhaust pipe when sitting idle. When moving, the air keeps the pipe from getting too hot and also blows the heat back away from the shroud. When sitting idle
during warm ups, and especially when you have the engine revved up with the choke on, that front pipe can get cherry red. You should never let the engine run
for more than a minute with...
