Have an exhaust rattle on the right side. Took the muffler, front shield and rear shield off of that side. The one by the floorboard is tight and no rocks are
between it and the pipe . Notice it most coming down to idle from a few k rpm. Happened all at once. It's a couple of inches forward of the collector. Not
in the motor and I can feel it on the exhaust pipe. Baffle and rear cly. pipe are tight and not touching on the inside. Outside of the pipe isn't touching
anything either....

Exhaust is fixed. Seems like forward of the baffle, where the chrome pipe swells, it becomes a double wall pipe. The inside pipe had come loose and was
rattling on the outside pipe. Course I had to cut it open with a band saw to find all this out. Ripped a 6 in. long piece out of the back of the pipe. When I
took it to the muffler shop to have it welded, the guy told me he usually just puts a half in. hole in the outside pipe and fills the hole with weld from the
inside pipe to the outside...

Thanks for your response Stan. Everything inside the collector looks to be in good shape and tight. The tab and bumper by the foot peg are ok. Rattle seems to
be at the rear of the middle heat shield, but the shield is tight. Sounds like it's in the pipe and it only does it when the motor is running. Can't
make it rattle by banging on the pipe and it's a hard rattle too; more of a tang than a ting. I would say the exhaust pressure has something to do with it.
I'm really...

A couple of inches forward of the collector sounds like it could be the internal defuser baffle (perforated screen) just inside the end of the collector may
have let loose or partially burned out. Other than that, the only other thing you did not mention was the tab on the front head pipe that is just below the peg
mount. This tab has a rubber bumper mounted on it that stabilizes the the head pipe by creating pressure against the peg mount. Perhaps the rubber bumper has
come off.
