I think it's because I removed them from my "images". I thought once they were inserted in the thread that they would remain and I should remove them to free up space, but I guess that's not the right answer. I'll upload them again and see what happens. If they don't show up here, click on my handle and look thru my albums - they are open to everyone.

i just noticed this thread and had to comment...
i was visiting washington state on vacation this past summer and camped one night at cape disappointment. ft. canby state park actually. we had just spent the three previous nights camping at mt. st. helens, mt. adams, and mt. rainier (one night at each). after cape disappointment we went up the coast close to westport. my boys were intrigued by the lighthouses and we ended up visiting a number of them.

I passed by the frying pan and the sign for Jake quite a few times but I was having too much fun riding to stop for the touristy things. I did see a few kites, but I think it was too windy. I also saw a bear go across the cabin deck! I'll go back this summer as part of my five corners ride.

Thank you for posting the pictures of Long Beach. I notice you didn't include the giant frying pan in "downtown" Long Beach. And what about "Jake, the Alligator Man" at Marsh's Free Museum?? For another interesting time, go there during the kite festival. Long Beach used to hold the record for the largest kite ever flown.

I have spent many days and nights in Long Beach and Ilwaco. My wife and I went to Long Beach for our honeymoon....

thanks for sharing. 34 years ago, when I first set foot in this great country, Bremerton was where I started. Had a friend of my dads help me buy a car and off I went. A three day weekend ride to the Pacific Coast. Approximately 155 miles and 3+ hours each way from Bremerton to the peninsula. If you have your map of the Great State of Washington handy, you can follow Highway 3 from Bremerton to Shelton, turn south on 101 for just a few miles to the junction with 108 towards McCleary, west on 8 to the the junction with 12, south on 107 until we connect again with 101 (Highway 101 circumnavigates the Olympic Peninsula). Follow 101 to the Long Beach Peninsula...
