hey aj, i got a "throttle rocker" this year and can't say enough about how great it is. my hand/wrist use to go numb clentching the hand grip for so long. this paddle thingy is quite the simple, but brillant idea. it's one of those things you look at and say "why the heck didn't i invent that?!?"

Undersand your pain. Riding anywhere in Texas during the summer months is tough. My wife and I rode from Corpus Christi to Plainview (north of Lubbock) back in June for my 30 year H.S. reunion and the ride there wasn't too bad as we spent the night with friends near Weatherford after riding 400 miles the first day. The second 400 miles was pretty nice as a cold front moved through and I could have used a jacket but it wasn't too bad. On the return trip home Sunday, my wife decided...

Thanks for the support. I really enjoyed the ride & plan on taking more long distance rides in the future. I think I will try to limit it to 500-600 miles a day max. I did 800 the first day because the weather put me back a day. Here is a cumulative response to the questions asked.

Nice ride, thanks for filling us in.. BTW, I find my fuel economy really drops above 65 mph.. At 75 + it is in the mid 30's at 65-70 it is around 40.. Best ever is about 41-42, but I ride two up alot and weigh 225# myself..Bob <><

AJ.....800 miles in one day! You are a better man than I am. That to me is maniacial, but if it is what you like then you must have had a good time.

Ah yes.....the beer. The elixir of the gods. It sure takes away some of the heat of the trip and it reads like you must have had a lot of heat to get rid of.

Well I took my first serious long road trip on my new-to-me ACE. I have done some 300 mile days in the past on sport/touring bikes, but this was my first looong trip on the cruiser. Really, this was the whole reason for buying the bike. I purchased a Corbin seat, but it hadn't arrived in time for my trip.

I rode from Corpus Christi, TX to Tucson, AZ. Not the smartest thing to do in the end of June. My trip started off a day late due to severe thunderstorms and flooding in...
