It seems Denver is now enforcing a ridiculous old ordinance of excessive vehicle noise specifically targeted to bikes. It seems that anytime an officer feels
that a bike is in xs of 80 decibels at 25 feet (this is subjective as the officers are supposedly trained to evaluate sound level without those costly sound
measuring devices), they can issue you a citation if you cannot show an EPA certification stamp on yoiur muffler, which would require you to change out your

Well here we go again....laws being put on the books that are half-baked and do nothing but cost us taxpayers more money because someone thought the law
"would be a good idea". If these "do-gooders" want to clog up the system with more laws, at least they could do it right. Who are some of
these law-writers anyway? Did they come up with the idea and wrote it down on a bar napkin that went directly to the state legislature without passing through
someone who could...

Apparently after 6 weeks on the book, the one and only citation on too loud of pipes went before the judge yesterday and was thrown out. Apparently the judge
thought that the specialized sound training the police officers in Denver received to differentiate 82 decibels at 3000 RPM at 25 feet (ear training in lieu of
$1000 sound monitoring equipment), does not stand up in a court of law. I think Denver motorcyclist will be okay. Seeing how Metro Denver approaches 4 million
people with...

I live on a state highway. There are pick ups that are louder than some bikes. It would be unfair to single out bikes when there 10 times more trucks and cars
with loud pipes than there are bikes.

Nearby Huntsville, Al has declared war on loud stereos. What brought this on was the few boomers that rattle your windows from 3 blocks away. But the law does
specify what too loud is other than if the officer can hear your radio from 25 ft away, then you will be fined. For all of us who...

AD,

You probably will not find an EPA sticker or marking on the Jardines. As for the ticketing, I can think of a few random thoughts:

I've had V&H, Jardines and stock pipes on my T. The V&H would probably fail the test but I think the Jardines would pass.

I don't know how they would test the sound level. A Jardine at an idle is very quiet. Would they make you rev up to a certain rpm? Without a tach, how
would you know?

I would...

I have a friend that rides an older softtail that bought very loud shorty pipes. He set of car alarms driving down the road. Bremerton's finest gave him a
noise violation ticket (faulty equipment). He put his old pipes back on right away. If they stop you once, they look for you so they can stop you again. Good
luck with your Jardines. Have you tried contacting them directly?
