Okay, I finally got around to installing a vent in the stock windshield.

I got a GL1800 vent for cheap on eBay and traded for a stock Tourer windshield. Neither of these items were in pristine condition but that's okay since I
was experimenting with this whole idea anyway.

The spot I picked to place the vent wasn't scientifically chosen in a windtunnel. Instead, I placed a piece of tape on the windshield where I thought I

With the vent system on the Valk I/S you don't get grated bug guts slung at you, but you do get some on the inside of the shield.
Get you some airwings. You'll love them.
I was sure wishing I has them on the Red Dragon on that trip back from PA. Until we got blasted by that Accord. It ripped that right radiator pod right there.
If I'd have had the airwings on, that side would have been toasted too. But, they were safe at home on the other dragon!!

Ditto on the Airwings, Dan. I have been told by many that this, along with the vent, are definite must add items for the Wing. I have the vent in the shield on
my Wing already, and my brothers Wing does not. Believe me there is a huge difference in both cooling and buffeting with the vent. The only draw back to the
vent is that you occasionally get cheese grated bug fragments streamlined at you with it open. <img...

I'm not sure a vent in the windshield would ever really provide any significant cooling. But, it really makes a difference in the buffeting.
The Valkyrie Interstate has a vent in the front fairing just above the headlight that comes out the grill in the top of the instrument panel. It removes all
the buffeting.

I think what really makes a difference in the airflow for cooling is Baker Airwings. You can direct the airflow toward the front of your legs and it blows

A former board member, jreiter (sp), had a vent in his Ace-T shield. I saw it a few years ago at the Leesburg,Fl. Bikefest. I thought it was a good idea when I
rode 105 degree temps last year in South Dakota. The ides once again crossed my mind when I faced extreme headwinds in New york last month. I wasn't sure
where to get a vent. Following this post (thanks) I contacted Clearview shields and ordered one for my bike. I have a 3+ Valkyrie-cut shield I got from

TRH,
I know what you mean about riding w/o the shield. It's ALOT more air. I did that a couple of years ago (and maybe last summer too?), but found that I was
alot more tired after a day of riding. The wind just really takes it out of you. For short trips and short 1hr rides, it's fine, but go 3-400 miles and I
was about whipped. Got the best gas mileage ever riding like that, but I decided I couldn't do many long trips that way.

Dukey....you've done a great job. You've sparked an interest in me to add a vent. I have a Clearview and so like BamaTrider says I could get the
Clearview vent to fit on mine. I find that my Clearview really blocks the wind but does create quite a dead air space. So a little added airstream might be
nice especially on these really hot days.

For those that already have the Clearview shield, they offer the vent to fit their windshields for $48. I'd be willing to bet it would also fit the stock
shield perfectly, and they could give you the measurements they use for proper location of the vent. The one that Stephens T had worked great on his Clearview
shield.
