I used to live on the West side of Cleveland, so I rode through the Metro parks often. No dought, that park system is a memorable ride, and a real joy to live close to. You can get some great Fall shots there too. I took the following pictures there, way back when:

That write up in Rider is what reminded me to get back down there last weekend. I had been meaning to explore that way for a while. The GPS sure makes it easier. i checked out a County Route that was just a good as 93.

Not sure if the Valley View QS still has bike night. A couple nights ago, when we went to Hoggies, there were a lot of bikes in the lot.

As for SR83 & 93... those are greats roads. Two years ago, when Fred was still a northerner, we met in Grayson KY for the 2005 Hoot. I rode SR83/93 from Akron to Ironton. The northern part was just written up and reviewed in the Nov 2007 Rider rag. Personally, I liked the southern part better, especially in the national...

If you decide to come north I would definitely check out Holmes and coshocton counties. They are easly on the way if you want to avoid the highway. I just rode SR- 83 or sr-60 south of millersurg, sr93and us36 beteween sugarcreek and Coshocton, last weekend and they are good. Not as technical or fun as what Andy recomends but still fun for north of I70.

The metro parks is a nice ride but if I lived in Columbus, I would head SE towards Athens & Marietta.

Up here we don't have anything as good as SR 555, SR 800, SR 26 & SR 76.

Tony, Quaker Steak has bike night but I think Hoggies has better food. Since I'm mostly food motivated...

My brother who has been riding continually for the last 10 years approx. and myself who just bought my first bike in probably as many years (98 A.C.E Tourer), are looking for a place to do a last big ride before winter fully sets in. We live in Columbus and were wanting to do something within a few hours from home. This sounds like a great ride and I am going to start getting it planned. Yesderday was quite nice in the afternoon. I'm glad you posted your opintion on the west vs east side of the neclace Andy. I wondered if I liked the west side better just because I was more familar with it. I had planed on going to the BMW Motorcycles of Cleveland's dinner ride ride yesterday. Yesterday looked like the last nice day for a while, so I braved the fog and light rain to ride to work. Right on queue, the sun broke through the clouds at noon and by 1pm it was a perfect day. Took the afternoon off and decided to ride the whole metro parks loop. A quick trip from downtown Cleveland to the Lakewood/Rocky River border and I was on the start of the loop. About two hours (70 miles later) I finished near my house.

I was in North Chagrin Sunday morning. Took a ride to the auto parts store on Rockside Rd (Snow Rd to you). Actually was thinking about riding down to Peninsula, but forgot my cell phone so I could not call home to clear it with the boss.

Sounds like a nice ride. Made me want to be there too, now that I know some of the ride and how nice it is. I may get another chance to ride Cleveland's Necklace if I can work out taking another course at Materials Park during riding season.

Sunday I finally went north of the brecksville reservation in to gorge parkway and the south chagrin reservation, not bad. Little chilly but that wasn't the roads fault. Honestly I think I like the west side's rocky river reservation better, equal on the curves and the road surface was in better shape. I then went south back the same way and continued though the cuyahoga rec area all the way to Akron. Then turned north and rode back past the winking lizard and back home. I...

Fred,

Just found out we're opening an office in NW Akron, Fairlawn to be exact. It's about 6 miles south of Penisula, one mile west of Riverview road. And I get to ride my bike to the construction meetings every Friday afternoon. Even though the gorge is not on the way, I'm sure road conditions and other traffic delays are going to force a detour.

Wow....are you guys lucky to have a park system like that so close to home. We don't have anything like that here where I live. In order to get to any good riding areas always means having to commute through city traffic and I hate that. There is not one single escape out of town that doesn't put me into city traffic. You can't imagine how many good riding sessions get squashed because of my having to think about getting out of town.
