I will attempt the photos tonight. I did take my little sheepskin pad and that made a huge difference, even had to fold it in two at times to add more comfort. After the second day I noticed the exhaust had burned the inside of my pant leg cuff on the right side. I ruined two pairs before I realized it. I had that problem with my '66 Honda CL160 but Honda solved that problem long ago. Maybe I'm the first one to ever ride a Sportster long enough to get the pipes warm.

Fred, the Heritage Softtail has a nice big soft seat very similar to stock T. I was comfy. I have also been on a Road King. It was nice, no complaints from me on any of them. Just the Softtail seemed to be closest to the T in handling. I find they will handle the twisties with ease, if one knows how to handle them and how to shift.

I have only rented HDs because I could not find hondas at the locations I was going to. I have tried very hard to rent Honda. With Eagle Rider...

In the past few years, I have rented an ElectroGlide Standard and a Road King. I liked the EG better because it had a seat that I was comfortable on all day long. How is the seat on the Heritage Softail Classic?

With Eagle Rider starting to rent Hondas I am more likely to rent a Honda than a Harley the next opportunity I get.

I have rented on a number of occassions and it has always been HDs. If you do this again, try to get a Heritage Softail Classic. It is very similar to the T, has similar center of gravity, if not lower and handes comparably. You will also find much more umph, with very good low rpm torque.

Now don't no one get all nuts that I am liking HDs or something. But you do what you gotta do when you rent and not many locations rent Honda's. Almost all HD dealers rent now a days....

Thanks for the update. Sounds like you had a great time.
That area is always beautiful, even in a drout.
I grew up in north west Texas. Anything that is even close to green is pretty to me!!
I have been through northeastern Colorado. Most people think mountains and scenic beauty when you say Colorado. The northeastern part of the state is not that much different than the northwestern part of Texas.

I thought I should give you an update. Rentals were a bit hard to come by. I could have a 1200 Sportster in Nashville or an 1800 Goldwing in Franklin. The Sportster was less money and only 15 minutes from the airport so it won out. Kelly at Boswell HD was great to work with, she let me have the Sportster for $240 plus tax for three days. They use a 24 hour period so picking it up at 10:00 on Thursday gave me three days with return on Sunday. Since it wouldn't be going back out, I had...

Joe,

That first link that Duke posted has Hondas including Gold Wings, VTX1300's, ST1300's and Aero750's. Eagle Riders worked out a deal with Honda and has started renting Hondas besides the typical Harley offerings.

A quick google search turned up Hondas in Nashville and H-D in Knoxville. Both are Eagle Rider outfits.

Hello everyone. I have booked a flight from Denver to Nashville on Sept. 12-16 to visit my son, now a sergeant with the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell, KY. He bought a new Triumph 900 Scrambler last spring, which he loves, and has put over 4000 miles touring the back roads of TN and KY. We plan to spend a few days doing the same while I am there.
