Reading through these old post reminds me why I like riding with you guys.

I'm bumping this back to the top because of the Rider magazine's article about riding the Snake. I must admit, Fred's tells a story a whole lot better than the magazine, and his pictures are better.

Thanks for the ride Fred. If we meet up again this year, I'll be the guy in the back on the geezer glide.

I just did not realize that riding at the fast pace I was enjoying would be so sensitive to what seemed like a little input to the right handlebar. Now I have a much better idea of mine and the bike's limits, I have to make some necessary corrections to my riding style.

Fred.....it sounds to me like your guilty of nothing more than a little reality check. We all need this from time to time and we all need the opportunity to have it without serious...

Fred, I'm a little late checking in and am glad that , all in all , you're ok and now get to mess with your T a little while getting it back to spec . For my money I'd follow you any day . Probably from a distance though because I can't keep up . The best we can hope for is that somehow we learn from our mistakes.

Fred, I have the email address from the guy who had the running motor from a T for sale. He is parting the whole bike out and it's the same color as yours. I'll email it to you in case you want to try and check with him on the tank from it.

Good plan on the body shop getting the tank dents out Fred. I priced new OEM tanks and the prices ranged from $670 to $960. I found an unpainted used tank for $250. I took my tank to a local body shop and he said he would take the dent out and re-paint for $200. I can then stick the extra $700 in my pocket....where I am sure it won't last long. Glad to hear that you are doing well, Fred. I hope the other banged up "T-er's" are fairing well also.
Don't be hard on yourself as a ride leader. I am assuming all the riders that were following you are adults? Anybody that rides one of these machines and hasn't come to the realization that you have to "ride your own ride", regardless of what the leader is doing, just hasn't hit the pavement...............yet!!

Thanks for the warning on the Clearview windshield leadtime. I can wait. I am not planning any trips with the T until Bike Week in Myrtle Beach next Spring. I don't need a windshield to ride around the local area even if I could ride around the local area anytime soon.

One of my brothers is an autobody mechanic. It is amazing what body shops can do to suck-out dents. I would be surprised if they cannot pop-out the 2" and 1-1/2" diameter dents that are in...

Glad to hear you are putting together your parts list Fred. Get ready for a bit of a wait on the Clearview shield. I just ordered mine the other day and the wait will be 6-8 weeks. List on a new T tank is $900, lets hope a body shop can take your dents out. Mine is at the shop now. I am anxious to see what they can do with the big ol dent. Bob

I am sorry to hear you will not make Ken's ride next month. As we discussed this past weekend, I will make my decision based on the weather. Recently I have not faired well on a clean, dry road. If the road is cold, wet and full of leaves I won't be attending either.

There is no need to apologize. Stuff happens and we learn from it. We had fast riders and a slower rider go down, but no one got seriously hurt, and we should all be able to take a lesson from what happened. I sure have. I have learned a few things of what not to do while I ride, and I learned a buttload about what to do if someone goes down.
