The first car I ever bought was a Pinto . I bought it from one of my sister's boyfriends for $75 . I neer did drive it , my dad would not allow me to park it at the house . I eventually sood it to a friend of mine and bought my dream ride , but that's another story .

I remember the Pinto with fondness. During my street rodding days my buddies and I would breakfast together on a Saturday morning and then head out to the junk yards in search of wrecked Pintos.

Yes sir, my brand new 1972 Ford Pinto with the 2000cc German built 4 cylinder with a 4 spd stick shift (standard were a 1600cc and a 3spd stick). First brand new car I ever bought. Dan,

My brother had several Mustangs and a few other hot Fords. Whenever I mention to him that Ford stands for "Found on Road Dead" or "Fix or Repair Daily" he would always reply "First on Race Day".

Both of my used Ford Pinto's came with the automatic oil changers built right in, as well as the used oil disposer option. Come to think of it, most of the Fords that I have ever owned came with this as std. equipment.

It ain't just age. When I was much younger I changed the oil in my Pinto. Drained it, put on a new filter took the pan out from under the car. Was adding the second quart of new fluid when I noticed oil spreading on the garage floor.

Well I had neglected (can't say forgot since I was not old enough to forget yet) to put the drain plug back in

So I then had the thrill...

That's a tradition with me. Check the oil, add some oil...check the oil, add a little bit more...just right. Screw in the dipstick and crank her up. Is it raining? No...the dipstick forgot to replace the filler cap again...go in and change clothes, spend 10 minutes cleaning the oil off my glasses. Mumble under my breath as I go for a ride.

well rick, don't think you're getting old, just occasionally a little forgetful. i've done almost the same thing. i've changed the oil, then checked it, leaving the dipstick out for some dumb reason. started it up, thrown my leg over and taken a full shot of oil on my jeans.

John and I rode over to the Boss Hoss rally today, and yes, we took a test ride!
After we got home and had supper, I decided to check the oil in the "T"! It was a little low so I removed the filler plug and added about a 1/2 pint. Replaced the dip stick and put the funnel away. That is when I had the brain fart!!!! I turned the lights...
