Mike.....weclome back old friend. I understand now why we haven't heard from you for awhile. I think about our long talks in the motel parking lot in Ohio. Please say hello to your wife for me. She sure made me laugh. By the way are you still with "K". I had to retire last May but was offered my same job with Carestream. So it seemed transparent to me that anything was different.

Variable compound tires tend to cup and produce unpleasant handling charactistics when they are aged. The softer compound on the sides wears faster than the harder compound in the middle creating edges off-center on both sides. I try to stay away from variable compound tires especially with as much as I ride the curves. The soft sides tend to wear out much too quickly for me.

I hope it is not true that Dunlop went to a softer composition for the E3. It has been...

My tire guy told me that the E3 went to a different rubber composition and are not getting the same miles as the original version. He recommended the Avon Cobra as they use a special rubber blend that is harder in the center for extended mileage ans softer on the sides for better grip in the corners.

Can anyone confirm that?

I like the "lower noise emissions" part of all that marketing hype. After the E3's humming i'd try a cobra just for that!
