The evap canister collects evaporated gas (opposed to the liquid) from the tank.  At opportune times it then releases it into the engine to be burned.  On the
49 state bikes the gas fumes are just vented to the atmosphere. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span> The same vent allows air to come in to the tank as the
liquid level drops. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>This is known as evaporative emissions or unburned... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ Evap can collects gas fumes to keep the greenies happy. It holds it until the next time the engine is started and provides it back to the carburetor.

There should not be any maintenance requirements (check your manual), but I do recall the simple check for the evap can on cars was to shake it. If you could
hear the charcoal shaking around like a can full of gravel, it needed replacement. Of course, all we ever did was throw it away and cap off the vent line with
