Hey all - as a new member I am probably repeating a topic from the past, but even after searching the forum, I still do not know which luggage rack will fit my
backrest. I know I can buy a mini rack from MC enterprises for a song (if someone else sings maybe) but I am wanting a square tube Bestem / Hondaline style.
These racks all have the mounting holes spaced 1 5/8" apart. The mounting holes for my backrest (the two on each side) are 2 1/4". I can not find

Got the spirit rack and installed it. Looks Great !
Still won't work with the (^&^*&%*&$% CWI backrest, but the real reason I bought it was to hold a trunk on road trips.
The only other 'issue' I have with it is that the square tubing, while beefy, is a little too thick to allow the use of standard bungee cords. The
hook ends just don't fit around it.
minor details - I have a rack !

Chicago - I am taking your advice - went ahead an purchased a Spirit rack off of ebay. I have not yet recieved it, but am thinking that at minimum.... I
will need to purchase some type of nylon washer/spacers and some longer bolts.??? (but will have to see when it arrives)
I am planning a cross country trip this spring an needed a rack to hold a trunk. The spirit rack out to work out great as it does not require I use a sissy
bar (would get in the way of the trunk) The only...

I never put a luggage rack on the back of my T. Instead I bought a three part T bag setup which belted into the passanger seat. Since I always solo it was
using dead space. The luggage formd a nice backrest and pillow. With the T bag, and the saddlebag luggage I have enough to ride 5-6 days.

The best rack for the Tourer is the Hondaline rack for the Shadow Spirit. Why? Because it bolts to the bike, not the backrest, so it can hold more and if you
ever want to go with a Tour-Pak, you can bolt it to the Spirit rack. Even if you have to sell your current backrest and get a Spirit backrest, it's worth
it.

Bob- tell me more - I see racks on E-bay all the time. I see the style that has two holes (vertical) on either side - seems to be the standard for the
ACE tourer but the holes are much close for my backrest/supports. There is another style, which must be the 'spirit' style where the holes are
horizontal in that the rack attaches to the fender rail as opposed to the stays (uprights). This style also will not fit properly as it is too wide. I
may end up simply getting an...
