        <![CDATA[ My wife Jan doesn&#39;t really participate in bike forums, so she lets me do the talking and research, and once in a while I get to ride her bike.  We bought
this 1998 Tour late in 2007 from a City policeman in Bloomington IL who had kept it in near showroom condition with just a few mods.  I have added a couple
more since this picture.





We are looking forward to riding together in the coming years.  We both quit riding to raise the kids and I had a battle with two bad hips.  But 20+... ]]>

			<description><![CDATA[ Bama, I am surprised at the 1800 GW getting that good of mileage. Basically the same I get on my 1300 Royale. But then again, I was a fan of big 60&#39;s cars
with way too much engine that got decent mileage because the engine never had to work hard! <img src="http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif"> Still, I don&#39;t see the need for more than 1800, and would
still buy a silver Wing 650 if I could find a good one.

oldest son, so do you have other children and do they ride, or want to? It is a good thing that your son is taking the MSF course. That&#39;s is the first step
in definitely one in the right direction.

Hey, we are about to be a two Shadow family. My oldest son (37) bought a 2001 Shadow 750 that I found for him. I will pick it up for him tomorrow pm because he
works late and doesn&#39;t have his license yet for motorcycles, has an appointment for the MSF course next month. Black with cheap saddlebags, but in good
shape, just 17,000 miles. Didn&#39;t realize they are chain drive, but that is OK, cheap, easy to work on. Also, how retro...wire wheels! <img... ]]></description>

up in Michigan not 50 miles aways from where I bought my VT800 a few years ago. So I&#39;m making the exact same 8 hour trip to pick up the bike. My brother
wants to ride it back, so we&#39;re hoping that it is in the good shape the owner says it is to make this trip. I&#39;ll bring my jacket and helmet and I might

			<description><![CDATA[ The GL1800 gets in the low 40&#39;s. Not bad for 110 hp. Mine has never gotten less than 40 mpg combined city and hi-way. I have gotten as much as 45 mpg
running 55-60 on the secondary hi-ways. I personally would like Honda to go back to the 4cyl for the sound, but keep the cc&#39;s and hp the same. I really
like the sound of Venture 1300 engine, also. Those engines are tough and give very little problems. I almost bought an &#39;88 model Royale but it was too top
heavy and too tall for me.... ]]></description>

fine, fooled me thinking it was factory. Have no idea what brand or how hard it was to put on. Sorry.

			<description><![CDATA[ Hello Don....got a few things to ask you. But first I wanted to tell you that my younger brother (55) is trying to buy a 86 Yamaha Venture Royale. The older
Royales have been the bike of his dreams ever since they came out. He has lost bids on couple on ebay but yesterday I heard he found another and was leading
the bidding. I haven&#39;t heard if he got it yet, but I just thought I&#39;d share that with you. He currently rides a 80&#39;s Honda Magna, that is
disgustingly fast.

JC Whitney plastic ones in our former riding lives, but this time I bought the excellent Breakaway control. Very high tech and looks right at home on her bike
with a nice satin aluminum finish. No need to remove the grips, it even fit over the fat Kuryakyn grips. But it did take a day to adjust, this thing is rube

			<description><![CDATA[ Mods I have added to the bike include an accessory bar (wife says don&#39;t call it a &quot;crash&quot; bar on the front, You can&#39;t see it but it had a
neat clock on the handlbar, and I added a temp gauge (air temp) to match it. I also found a bit of chrome to cover the horn. Installed LED lights inside the
rear turn signals adding running and stop lights, Jan wanted more light, but I didn&#39;t want to clutter up the back with more stuff, so that worked out
great.
