        <![CDATA[ I have been through a couple of Formotion compasses (the fluid leaked out of both of them) and a marine grade PNI compass (like are used in automobiles). 
Trying to put a magnetic compass on the handlebars is not an easy task if you want accurate readings.  The Earth&#39;s magnetic field is very weak (~ 1/2
Gauss).  In contrast the two magnetic coils produce huge magnetic fields (many thousands of times stronger than the Earth&#39;s magnetic field) so that they

			<description><![CDATA[ I just mounted a suction cup fluid filled ball type compass ($1.96 at WalMart) on the top edge of my windshield and it works great. I just kept moving it
around by hand until it pointed in the right known direction.
