David....there's no question about it. I'm going with the Dunlop Elite III for the Valk (180/70/16) on the rear. The front is still brand new as
far as the thread goes. My only indecision right now is about taking the tire off myself or having it done. I'm impressed from all the previous posts that

Last Friday I decide to take the afternoon off from work to get my T inspected. New York State requires an annual inspection and all motorcycles safety
inspections expires on April 30th. So I;m all suited up and ready to go. But I'm not going anywhere because my new four week old battery can't start
the bike. The battery just doesn't have enought umph to crank the engine more than one or two revs. I shut it down wait a minute and try again and get the
same results. So now...

it wouldn't show. When I first read on the forum about the white portion of the battery showing, I did not know what you guys were talking about. It
wasn't until I removed my old battery that I saw that the former owner had taped off the bottom so I never did see the white portion.

The battery I just replaced was not completely bad, but was getting weak. I too bought it at Advanced Auto Parts and it lasted almost 3 summers. The only
reason I replaced it is because I'm selling the T and didn't want to put the burden of replacement on the new owner. I got a sealed version off ebay
for around $56 shipped.

Gary.....when this whole battery thing started with me this weekend, I concluded from an earlier posting of yours that I was going to buy an Interstate battery
also. So I did a google search on the Internet and off I went to laalaaland. It seemed that every Interstate location I was sent too did not have the battery I

Hey Alain. My personal experience with batteries has lead me to believe that you can buy two batteries, one built directly behind the other on the assembly
line, take them home and use them exactly the same way, and one is going to last longer than the other. I don't even think God knows why. Any way, I also
think that if you buy a well recognized battery, regularly check and fill the water level, ALWAYS use a battery tender often (I use a Jr),
the battery will give you...

Bob.....to answer your question, no I never have used a battery tender on my motorcycle batteries during the winter. I don't mind removing the batteries
for the winter. My only problem is that I'm just a bit lazy when it comes time to removing the battery. I typically don't remove it until near Spring
time. My fault, I'm BAD!

Alain, pull the choke and turn it over a few turns, turn off the ignition, then let it sit for a minute or two. Turn the ignition back on and repeat as many
times as it takes. This seems to help on most of the bikes that I have let sit for more than a few days at a time, and it allows the battery to recoup some of
it's charge between attempts.

Sorry to hear about the battery Alain. I know that is frustrating, especially when you finally get some decent weather.
Do you keep a charger on it all winter? I found that keeping a "Battery Tender" on the bikes works great. It detects voltage and if necessary
trickles the power in till it is fully charged. Just be careful to make sure the battery water level is up where it belongs. If not, bye-bye battery. Other
