We are riding the Chevy Bel-Air of motorcycles. Like a 25' sailboat it's great for a day trip or an occasional overnight in a nearby spot; the T will never be a 36' Cape Dory. The T is a very nice ride but after over 40 years of sport bikes, Kawasakis since '78, this is a truck. I would like either fuel injection or, like Suzuki, a single carb; and like Yamaha, dual disc brakes. In my case the T is a concession to my wifes back and my aging body parts. But I'm looking for...

I had a Honda 750 Aero and used it for touring last year . I put 17000 miles on last year with my longest trip being ABOUT 3500.

Decided I wanted something better for touring and bought a Honda ST1100 . A beautiful sport touring bike . I have gone 285 miles before a fillup and probably could go 300. The bike has everything and I wasn't even fatigued after a 700 mile day. My only complaint is the seat height. With a 30 inch inseam...

Haha. The small tank is just the tip of the iceberg. Where does one begin?

An adjustable suspension would be nice. Air forks and adjustable compression/rebound damping in the front would be great. btw, there's this feature called anti-dive forks that was introduced on bikes over 20 years ago.
Air shocks in the rear to better carry a fully laden bike.
Dual front disc brakes so it doesn't feel like I'm trying to stop a freight train with a bicycle coaster brake....

and there aren't many gas stations in the hills around Eureka Springs

first time rudy and i rode the "pig trail" we suddenly realized we should have filled up first. neither of us had a map, so we didn't know where we might find another town/gas station. we finally stopped and rudy called a friend in kansas city and told him approximately where we were and he checked a map and said it looked like we still had about ten miles before we got to that...

I'm grateful to be able to be in the wind at all.
The T is icing on the cake for me (given that I moved up from a VLX 600).

Fred you hit the nail right on the head. Our T's are not perfect but damn close! If only honda had added that 6th gear!!

Did anyone get the Rider magazine with the midsized tourer comparison. None of them had hard bags. They even admit that the VTX tourer is just the VTX with accessories bolted on from the Honda catalog.

What made a tourer? Windshield, saddlebags and passenger backrest.

FYI, my '06 Electra Glide is looking for a gas station ~165 miles. I've taken it to 180 but was nervous.

Alain,

Although I want all those things too, I still do not see another hard bagger that is as close to perfect as our beloved T's. In other words, in my eyes all the rest of the hard baggers have more imperfections than the T does and the imperfections the T does have are either fixable or livable without much hardship at all. Long live our T's!!!!

Well gee Fred, now that you mention it, all of the things that we've mentioned probably would have been addressed in the last 8 years if Honda took their collective head out of their arse and continued making the Tourer.

That's the only one Scott? In the past owners have complained about that and wanting a 6 gear, fuel injection, more lean angle, a robust electrical system (stator and voltage regulator), a stronger headlight, a more comfortable seat and a cross-over pipe without an acute angle bend. I agree the gas tank is too small. IMHO, real Tourers can go at least 200 miles on a tank of gas.
