Sonny's Cycles in Florence, S.C. is hard to beat. He's a crusty old #$%%$#@ over the phone but if you go to the shop it's like meeting an old

My Suzuki VZ800 did that when I tried to unload it from the truck. Turned out to be the clutch safety switch had gotten unplugged at sometime during the strap
down. The soft tie strap must have tugged on the wire harness enough to pull it off the switch. It could that or a bad clutch switch. The clutch switch allows
the bike to be started in gear with the sidestand down while the clutch lever is pulled in.

Yeah, I'd have thought of the sidestand switch first too.

Is it possible the clutch stiction is causing it to stall? Before starting the bike, place it in gear and with the clutch lever pulled, rock the bike back and
forth until the stiction breaks. I realize that may not be easy with an 800+lb GL1500.
