First the person... my little sister Pam. I was 15 when she was born. By the time she was 2, my father lived in the bottom of a vodka bottle and I was her
father figure. Pam was 12 when my daughter was born, with Jessica and Pam thinking of each other as sisters rather than aunt-niece.The orange blob above

More memories you've stirred...
My brother used to build Estes rockets. Lots of 'em. BIG ones. For his 8th grade science project, he sent a mouse by the name of Uri Gregarin (sp?) up into
"space" to see how it would affect him. *sigh* The poor mouse didn't last too long after he came back to earth. I think the G forces must have
been too much for the little creature.

OK... final visit to this topic... at least for tonight.

As my kids grew up, I kept throwing new things at them. We would build rockets then launch them until they blew up, burned up or got lost in a clump of trees.
We built simple radios out of a few simple parts. Tumble stones and make jewelry. Build telescopes and microscopes.

In 2003, after my daughter had graduated from Bowling Green, we were driving up I75 from BG to Toledo for a celebration dinner. The night...

Before I started kindergarten, we had a '62 red Beetle!! I remember the white seats, and the back one could fold down, and my brother and I would be able
to nap back there when we drove back and forth from Milwaukee to Appleton when my Pa was in the Air National Guard.

It's great to have a positive impact on the youth. Even though my son is well beyond his Boy Scout days, I'm still a merit badge counsoler in the
area. It's an oppourtunity to expose a young mind to a new topic... music, sports, backpacking, canoeing... the list is endless.

My son was exposed to the financial world though the Personal Finance merit badge. The merit badge counsoler sparked a career as my son majored in Finance and
Thank you for sharing this insight into your "world"! I've also been very lucky to be surrounded by creative people in my life, and have had a
few brushes with some great ones over the years. I think adults sometimes forget the effect they can have on just a chance meeting or discussion with a
child. We can be an inspiration or we can unthinkingly scar them. I think my life would feel so empty with having a...

Thanks so much for posting, not just the picture, but also your memories and history of the moments surrounding the creations. There are some old pieces in my
