Yes, I'm traveling alone. I enjoy meeting new people and I meet more of them when I'm by myself. I also intend to camp rather than stay in motels in order to meet people.

David.....300 to 400 miles a day should be a nice long summer trip. Are you going this trip alone?

You may not have been a forum member long enough to know what I am notorious for asking our members who plan to take interesting trips. Everyone else is ready for this one......

I put a beaded seat on my stock seat from Bead Rider, http://www.beadrider.com Now my rear doesn't seem to wear out as soon. Still, I can only get about 400 miles out of a day. I'm only going to try...

Yes, I'm going to Gettysburg on the Tourer. I'm going to go through the South and visit family, then swing north to Gettysburg. When I come back, I hope stay off the Interstates. From St. Joseph, Missouri, I want to follow the Pony Express trail. This will bring me home.

Alepel - I went to Gettysburg a couple of years ago with my 12 year old daughter. If you have ever tried touring a historical site with a kid, you know how frustrating that can be.

Yes and No! I was blessed to have two children who were very good kids. We always included them in everything. I remember when my daughter was about three weeks old we took her on vacation to the Connecticut shore. I wanted to tour the WW II submarine at Groton and we took her with us....

Superduty350 - Teaching is a great job. I have been doing it for 20 years and hope to do it for another 10. There is nothing like helping a kid who doesn't get it to finally understand. Teaching is a frustrating job. I always tell people who want to try teaching to go out and get a job for the worst boss possible. Then, when teaching gets hard, you can always say it isn't as bad as my old job.

Thanks for sharing. I was stationed in Las Vegas (Air Force) for a year and a half. I really enjoy the west and hope to return one day so I can ride the year round again. My daughter just mentioned becoming a teacher after high school. I will have her read your story.

I'm happy to find out there is somebody out there with my riding style. I'm headed for Gettysburg this summer. I only have 4 or 5 weeks to make it from the left coast to the right one and back. It would nice to meet you, but I don't know if I can squeeze in that last 350 miles.

you stirred my urge to get on the road again. Those are the kind of trips I like to do (see some of my past posts).
I know these parts well and been there many times, although only once on my bike.
Let me know if you have any other plans and want some company. I am always ready for a quick getaway.

I'm a school teacher. By all accounts, I have the class from Hell. Nobody wants my class next year. One of next year's teachers is talking of retiring early so she doesn't have this group. So I cut school on Friday and took off on my bike. South on Highway 99 to Bakersfield, then east on Freedom.
