After 6 months of planning it was time to leave for my trip down to Florida to visit friends and family. I had never been to Florida and this was going to be
my first trip on the new/used bike.

It was 33 degrees outside when I left home, just south of Detroit Michigan.

This is about 1/2 hour north of Wytheville Virginia. It was that kind of day. Rain and yuck all the way.

I had planned on it getting warmer the further south I rode but it just didn't happen.

That is frost on...

Those bridges are lots of "fun", aren't they? Between the gusts of wind and the crazies going 85 MPH, riding the Howard Franklin Bridge (and the
Gandy Bridge) between Tampa and St. Pete can be quite a hair-raising experience. Did you get to ride over the Sunshine Skyway at the south end of St. Pete? We
used to fish off the old bridge there a...

Great photos and journaling, Alan!
Scariest bridge experience for me took place every week when I lived in the Seattle area. Had to cross the Evergreen Point (floating/pontoon) bridge. Some
nights on the way back to Bellvue, it would be windy, the waves would be breaking over the side of the bridge, and I was on a little Yamaha 400 Special without
proper gear. But the scariest part was having to ride across the metal grating at the peak of the bridge. 7 seconds of holding your breath and...

One of my scariest rides ever was across the bridge over Tampa Bay in 1978. It was winter, dark, rush hour traffic, raining and gusting winds as my bike
wiggled across the metal grating at the top of the bridge. What fun, if you liked to be scared to death.
