I'm having some trouble with my first Tourer; just picked it up this weekend. Amazingly only 5k miles on the the
10 year old bike but still have an issue with the throttle. Whether I'm accelerating (or revving sitting still) from a stop, or just cruising around near
1/4 throttle...the engine hesitates or stumbles. If I give it more gas it willl speed up and pretty much smooth out. Put new gas (91 oct) in it since I bought
it with no better results.Haven't torn into it yet and...

Thanks a lot for the replies everyone. I put 1/2 a can of Seafoam in a fresh tank, but only had time for about 50 miles last weekend. Could be my imagination
but I THINK it did start to feel better already though! Will get out for a long ride over Memorial Day and see what happens.

Thanks again guys!

I agree with the carbs sentiment. Get some seafoam and put some in with every gas tack for a while. I had the same problem with my CBR when I let it set for a
year without riding. it had some "dead spots" in the throttle. some seafoam and about a 1,000 miles and we are all good now.

I agree with the others... dirty carbs.

If you have to get in to repair, might as well re-jet too.

Even with clean carbs, there are flat spots in the power cycle.

My money is on dirty carbs since the mileage is so low. Like Duke says, try the Seafoam for a while (several tanks full) and see what happens. Don't rush
it..........put it in and run it around the block a few times, let it sit overnight, then ride it some more. The overnight sit with Seafoam in the fuel gives
it a chance to dissolve the varnish. You might just get lucky and not have to hire a wrench to clean those carbs for you.

Actually, a 10 year old bike with so few miles would have exactly the problems you're experiencing. Basically, it hasn't been ridden enough.

-check to make sure no critter has built their nest in the air filter housing (it's under the seat)
-check the charge on the battery
-change the spark plugs.
-add SeaFoam fuel treatment into the tank per the label.
-ride it
-ride it some more

Over time, fuel will evaporate and leave a varnish that...
