So, I've got the price "almost" down where I want it for the 2000 Tourer; seller says "it's not perfect." It's got about
14K miles, windscreen, light bar, Jardine pipes, "carb kit," and that's that.

For approx $ 2000 more, I can get a 2006 VTX 1300 (not sure yet which model, looks like C); seller says "excellent condition. It's got 3800 miles,
never been dropped." Comes w/ windscreen, floorboards, bags, and that's that.

So, I hooked up for a ride on the "T" I've been considering; it was pretty, and looked "pretty darn good." However, I took it for a
spin, went up the freeway for maybe 8 miles (not much, I know), but have to say, I was not impressed with any noticeable difference between it and my old ACE.
I had actually agreed to buy the bike, but a tiny little glitch, & I was in "a hurry" to get on the road, that I actually had time to think it
over just a little...

Nothing wrong with the T at all, except for locating stuff for it. Gets a little frustrating at times because there are a dozen others looking for the same
things and that drives the prices up. I personally like the sound of the VTX more and it runs just as smooth as the T. That and the availability of accessories
for the newer VTX is endless. I really liked the look of that VTX1300F with the Corbin bags that was parked at our motel last summer during the Hoot. I said to

Stan, Thanks for those links; man are those some pretty "bags"!!!

Why specifically would you go for the VTX? I'm not certain I really need the extra pep; I'm pretty satisfied w/ what my old ACE does... I'm not
an aggressive rider, just like to go long distances... I Would like a bigger gas tank of course, but the X is just slightly larger, at 4.8 gals, IIRC...
Stopping every 120 or so is still OK with me...

I have owned the T (two of them in fact), and have spent some time on my friends VTX1300C. Both are very smooth running and agile in the turns. Fuel mileage is
about the same, but the VTX has a little more pep to it.

There are still lots of new and used parts available for the T. There were many of them built and therefore used parts should be plentiful for quite some time
yet. However, it does seem that more and more manufacturers of after market parts are discontinuing production...

Fred & Gary, Thanks to you Both for the time to reply...
Neither of you mentioned the Age factor, an 8 year old vs a 2 year old bike... I'm assuming it's not that big a factor here... ? ! (I'm
thinking mostly about continued parts availability for the T down the road...)

I'm pretty sure I've got at least another 10 years of ability to ride, & I plan on going more than that... If I can get 10 years out of either of
them, I'm pretty sure...

Jeff, If my two cents is worth anything, I'll say this...........

You need to make your decision on what you want to do with it when you get it. I mean specifically, your riding habits. If you are going to do most of your
riding out on longer hauls and carrying a lot of gear, I'd go for the Tourer. If most of your riding is going to be runnning back and forth up and down the
boulevard, going to to store, or just looking cool around the neiborhood, I'd go for the VTX....

Jeff,

The T will be lighter with more ground clearance, thus better handling both at parking lot speeds and in the twisties. The VTX 1300 sits lower for those with
shorter legs and has a single crankpin V-twin engine. If you light the staccato cadence and breathy idle of Harleys the VTX 1300 has it too. There are more
accessories readily available for VTX's.
