Re: MPG (I hope we can realy vote this time) | #1 | ||

Due to the request of fire fly medic I deleted his first poll on fuel mileage. I wanted to keep the replys that MAC and Buzzy had posted to this topic and copying them and adding both to this reply was the only way to do it.
Madscot3 reply: Well tried to vote/see results but kept getting error so will repy to you all. On average local comutes to work , etc I get 43.5 MPG. On long interstate rides cruisin just at 70 I get 41.8 average single or two up. But those times when me gets heavy handed like recent return run from Nashville , tenn to Atlanta , Georgia I dropped to 33 MPG , but me speeds were well above allowed by law as had these three Harleys wanted to see what Honda made of. They learned to like view of Honda tail lights cause thats all they got to see !!!!! MAC 2000 ACE Tourer Buzzy D Biker reply: YEP,YEP,YEP,! Have had as good as 46 mpg and as low as 32. Just depends on where and how I'm riding. Lost some mileage when I first opened up the exhaust. Not because of the bike but because I love to hear it ROAR! The modifications didn't change my mileage, but the added acceleration and response... well I just can't help myself, the devil makes me do it. |

I've thought about taking the sheild off my T. Not to see what it would do to the gas mileage but just to see what the bike would look like. Has anyone done this? If so do you have a pic of the T with the sheild off? I would like to check it out before I took mine off.

I think I have a pic somewhere. I'll dig around. When I am around town or riding less than 100 miles I usually leave mine off. I like the rush of the wind as long it is not all day during a longer trip. (Of course, I'm 6'3 so with the stock shield I catch it right in the face anyway)
It is a great looking machine without the shield. I made the gel-pad seat modification and took off the passenger seat as well. I really like the look of the exposed fender on this bike. Riding for lunch today! Dan |

I tried it when I stripped off the bags and windshield to do a good cleaning job. Rode about 1 mile and turned around, my eyes were watering so much I couldn't see. Not on a 40 degree day without full face hat of goggles!

Re: MPG | #12 | ||

My bike used to require switching to reserve at around 135 miles under my normal riding conditions. Ever since I replaced the rear tire with the "Valk" model( and I know it is taller I think a half inch or more) my bike now runs 144 miles on average before having to switch to reserve.
I have modified the exhaust so that I have only one baffle in tact and the pilot jet screws have been opened up account the bike was to lean. JCR |

Reserve | #13 | ||

Since it was so pretty today I rode after work for a while. Since I'm still learning my T I rode today till I hit reserve to see how far I could go for the day in the future when I'll need that info. Hit reserve at 140. I guess that's about right since I have quiet pipes. Right Buzz. LOL
I also ordered a new taller windshield from Clearview adn it came in today. Maybe I'll get to install it the weekend if riding doesn't come first. LOL |

Re: Reserve | #14 | ||

I did about 40 miles today on my lunch hour. Going to be in the upper 60s to mid 70s here over the weekend. I hope to burn a couple of tanks of gas.
Give us a reveiw of the new sheild when you break it in. |

Re: Reserve | #15 | ||

I guess I'm just addicted to acceleration. Just can't keep from grabbing a handful of throttle when leaving the stop sign. Have a hard time getting 120 miles before fumbling for the reserve switch. From the looks of the vote there are at least 35% of T riders that have the same problem. Ride safe.
