Just curious how riders prefer to use the shifter on their T and how it relates to pegs or boards.

I heal shift with pegs and boards. I've had both.

With T's Cobra floorboards, upshifts are heal and downshifts are toe. How luxurious!

I like the heel/toe shifter so much, it was my first upgrade when I bought my wing.

Up with heal and down with toe. It's the only way to go.

This is my first experience with a heel/toe shifter so at first it was all toe. When I added the Cobra crashbar, I had problems with the toe of my shoe/boot hitting the bar trying to get under the shifter. The only alternative was to start using the heel to upshift and now its second nature. I still have the stock pegs but someday floorboards.

The "T" is the first bike I have owned that had a heel/toe shifter. I will not own another bike without it!!!

One of the many reasons I sold my 96 Shadow and got a T. No one made a heel/toe shifter for the Shadow, and I wanted one. I don't think I'd ever get another bike that just had toe shifting.

Heel & toe with boards for me. With my left ankle fused it makes shifting most other shifter configurations difficult if not impossible for me.

I was so looking forward to having a heel/toe shifter when I got my Tourer, because I had never had one before. When I first rode the Tourer I found my left
foot getting 'tangled' so to speak when I started from a stop. I actually pulled over to look at my foot and see what I was doing. I found that my left
foot was hitting the heel portion of the shifter. A few more stop and go's and I realized that on the Tourer I was able to get my toe under the toe shifter
much easier and quicker than my previous bike.
I've been out on the bike three times now and I still am not comfortable with using the heel shifter. It almost feels alien to me to do so. I keep telling myself; "Try it....You'll like it". But that hasn't happened yet. I've got my Americade trip coming up in three weeks (Yahoo) and this will give me the opportunity to really become accustomized to my Tourer. I'll really give it a go then. alepel |

OK everyone...grab your partner...heel and a toe, heal and a toe....slid, slid, slide. Oops, wrong forum. I thought I was on the square dancing forum. Yup,
the heal/toe shifter is the only way to go. Bob

I agree with heel-up toe-down. BUT...! I had a bit of trouble getting adjusted. Once when I was getting on the throttle to sync into traffic on the interstate
I had a momentary brain-fart and hit the toe ... the back wheel skidded a bit when I popped the clutch thinking I was in the next gear up, but instead it was
the next gear down. By instinct, I guess, I pulled the clutch in time to maintain control and my sanity. Sandy said "What was that" .... "awe
... nothing ... I'll tell you later!" ....

heel/toe all the way!!! i actually made a heel/toe shifter for Halfbreed. you can't buy just the shifter, have to buy the shifter/board combo, at least
that's all i could ever find. lou had put the stirrup type pegs and i really liked them and thought they just went with that bike. since i didn't need
the (pricey) combo set up, i just made the shifter. like many of you, way back on the first bike i had with heel/toe shifter, it took some getting used to, but
now wouldn't have anyuthing else. later, bud

Heel/toe for me too. My Wing does not have this yet, but definitely will soon.
