NGK DPR7EA-9 are recommended, $2.19 each.
But I see NGK DPR7EIX-9 Iridium plugs are also offered, but at $7.23 each, I question whether they're worth the extra cost. Does anyone have any experience with the Iridium plugs?

I would stick with the "plain" plugs, unless I had some sort of problem with plug fouling, lack-luster power, or had some engine mods (Power Commander, re-jetting, etc). Then again, I am not into engine mods. Tom in NC

I just replaced mine for the first time.... @ 23,000 miles....heh.. They always looked good until I installed my K&N and Muffler Mod.... now they got white... ( running too lean)
I should have replaced them LONG ago... I never noticed the loss of horsepower before until I changed them....... I must have been only firing one plug on one of the pistons.... Anyways.... I went with the good ol STOCK plug...... and after 23,000 miles on the old one... BOY can I feel the difference....... I'll never go that long again..... Every Spring I'll replace them from now on..... hell they are cheap enough... Cheers.. Jim

Jim, that is a good point: at about $2 each, change them anyway. I did that with the CM250C I had; when the plugs got to the next spring, mileage dropped to 65 mpg from 75 mpg. Since I could not expect much in the way of performance, I was content to optimize distance on a tank. Tom in NC

I use the OEM plug with good results. I change them every season during the winter lay-up. That might not be necessary but it makes me feel better. charlie g.

I tried the Iridium, and really liked them. When I first installed them, I pulled out of my driveway and nearly shot across all four lanes and into the trees in Golden Gate Park. They were quite a difference for my baby. Marpesia If we see only with our eyes, We are blind. If we hear only with our ears, We are deaf. Do you think it was because of the Iridium plugs, or the fact that you just needed fresh plugs to begin with? I have 24k on my '99 T and plan to change them soon since I don't know if they are the original factory installed plugs. I'm glad you brought this up. The timing was perfect for me.

Well, the old plugs came out looking in good shape, though they might have had as much as 10,000 miles on them. I suspect a combination of it being time for new plugs and then an additional contribution from the Iridium. |

At the low price of stocks I think I'll conduct a little comparison test. I'll replace mine with the stocks 1st and see what change it makes, if any. If there is no or little change then I'll try the Iridium type. Since I have 2 T's then I really won't be wasting money by trying new stock plugs first.
Who makes the Iridium's and where did you go to buy them? Stan |

I love the idea of direct comparison. Years ago, I did the same with a couple of cars, a few times each. That was how I discovered that upgrade plugs could, indeed, enhance performance. Depending upon aspect of performance, I found that the identifiable enhancements ranged from slight to moderate. Since then, I've consistently used upgrade plugs wherever possible, so it has been awhile since I've run another head-to-head comparison. I didn't run that kind of test on my T. My plugs are labeled Denso IX22B / 5375 I ordered them from Sparkplugs.com Marpesia If we see only with our eyes, We are blind. If we hear only with our ears, We are deaf.
