I wonder how many of us carry first aid kits.
Yesterday as I was coming back home after riding the BRP with Fred and Andy (great time by the way) I came upon a motorcycle accident. The gentleman was not
seriously hurt, but was bleeding pretty good. It looked like he became fixated on the washed out edge of the road and headed for it. He ended up next to one of
the stone walls at an overlook, with his bike on top of him. Luckily most of him scraped the grass, but more that half of his skin on the top side of his
forearm was scraped down. NOT A PRETTY SIGHT. I don't keep a big kit, but I did have a small first aid kit so we could get him cleaned up and bandaged.
This guy was tough, not to smart (lack of gear other than a helmet), but tough. He hopped back on the bike after we got him patched up. Fortunately his son and
the others around convinced him to take a car ride back to his home, and let someone else take his bike back for him. He may have been tough, but he was shaken
up to the point that he could not operate the bike.
Oh! The guy had to be about 70 and this was his first ride in about 30 years. Not the way to start back.
Hopefully none of us will have to use a first aid kit, but you never know, and you never know what you'll run across on the road.
Mike
