Well riding season is almost upon us here in the FRIGID NORTH and it's got me thinking about getting the scoot ready for the upcoming
season, so I thought a thread on preseason prep will help us to not forget anything.
Aside from the usual stuff like oil changes, brake/ tire inspection & checking general tightness of nuts and bolts what do you also check? Know of any good links to help with this topic?

It's already riding season here. The 1st thing I check is tires condition, air pressure. Since I ride it 12 months a year, I change the oil at regular
mileage intervals. Since it sits for longer periods w/o being ridden, I pull the air filter and check for foreign objects that a vermin may have left me in
there. It has happened to me twice already over the last 3 years. I also go over the bike and check for anything that may have worked loose. I usually do this
while cleaning and waxing it. I'm gonna replace the fuel filter this month because I don't think it has ever been changed. I'm also gonna change
out all the brake fluid and gear oil this month.

We're getting close. The bike's been parked since the 2nd week of Janurary I'm ready for a ride.
Both filters were already on my list.

Looks like the mid-40's today. Hope your scooters ready for a ride. Let's try to hood up for a ride this year. Usually try to meet up with Lyman and Putz in Hell. Alan |

It helps if you have a little help when changing the fuel filter. It is hard to get to and you almost have to have someone on the other side of the bike to hold it while you pull the hoses off the filter. It helps to have the same to hold the filter from the opposite side while you push the hoses back on. Dawg2 helped me change mine and I honestly don't know if I would have gotten it off by myself. It was stuck pretty good! Rick

I found that a long needle nose works to pull the hoses off the filter. I did mine this morning and had a leak after. The factory clamp would not seal tight
enough and leaked. I had to redo it with worm clamps so you may want to have them too, before you change the filter. The hardest part was getting that rubber
ring back on the tang.

I'm debating whether to go ahead and change the fuel filter now, or let the dealer do it when the rear tire is replaced later this year. Dealer says he can
change it fairly easy once the wheel is off, and would do it for an additional 5 bucks in labor cost. I should get thru the summer with the tire I have since
I'm sharing miles with the Wing now.
I got the T out and ran most of a tank full of gas through it today. It started up great and ran like a champ. I did notice a coolant smell once the engine warmed up completely, but my brother and I could not find any leaks anywhere. Not even a wet spot. I'm gonna do a flourecent dye test in the coolant one afternoon and maybe that will show up somewhere. I don't want to make it all the way to ES and have a coolant leak problem. I put new O-rings on the crossover tube last spring, so It should not be that again. Stan
