Ted,
Some T owners has tried Maxxis whitewalls, I believe in the sizes of 120/80-18 for the front and 160/80-16 for the rear. They are bias-ply tires. All of the radial tires for the T are expensive, but most of us are running either the stock tire (Dunlop D206F, 130/80-180) or a Metzeler ME880 (130/70-18) on the front and one of the Valk-size tires (180/70-16) on the rear. Avon Venom R, Bridgestone Excedra G702, Metzeler ME880 and Dunlop Elite III are all good Valk-size tires. A few are running Wing tires (180/60-18) on the rear.

Keep an eye on eBay. I've found great prices on tires there. In fact, here's a link to a Valk-sized Metzler ME 880 for $160 to your door. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-ME880-METZELER-REAR-TIRE-180-70R-16_W0QQitemZ300131436885QQihZ020QQcategoryZ35577QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Look at the prices from Southwestmototire.com They have great prices and free shipping if you buy two. I just got a D206F for 148.95 including shipping
which took 3 days from Arizona to Michigan.

So Ted, did you do anything about tires yet? No one has bid on either auction yet.

Ok, I need to rekindle this thread. I need a front tire for the T I just bought and I can't say I care much for Dunlops. If I go with the 130/70-18
Metzler, what is the difference in that and the stock Dunlop? And how will it affect the speedo?
Thanks Guys |

With the stock 130/80's our speedos run 5% over the speed you're actually riding. A 130/70 will make this worse. Have you been keeping an eye on Ebay?
Here's a D206F for $64 to your door.

Since the 130/70 is 10% shorter radius than the 130/80, you can estimate an additional 10% error, or about 5.5%
I'm sure Fred posted his calculations in an older thread, so I'm not going to recalculate them here.
