I just got back from a 400 mile round trip to Denver to visit my wife in her therapy unit (broken leg from exiting a burning combine three weeks ago). I hadn't been riding much lately because of her accident so wasn't in shape either. But I had purchased a round sheepskin at Colorado Sheepskin and Seat Covers in Denver for $20.00 last spring. This was the first time I remembered to take it along and what a tremendous difference. I had been reading people's comments and agree it is the best $20 I've spent for a long time.
It is a round skin about 16" in diameter. This one is black but they had all colors. Most of them were two pieces sewed together with a big seam. I don't think this would work at all. As I dug thru the pile, I found one that was all one piece with no stitching.
I haven't done anything to attach it to the seat yet. Just sat on it. That worked well unless you wanted to stand up and stretch or hit a bump.
