Just for clarification, can someone tell me which studs are needed for the 'T' to use theseHandlebar/Riser Adapter Studs? From the riser site "THREADED FOR 1/2-13 RISER BOLTS". Excuse my ignorance ... but it would appear that item 1 is correct?

Give Stan time to get home and get on the computer. He has done this to his "T" and knows exactly what you need. He'll be tuning in later!
In the mean time, you can check out his thread here........ p090.ezboard.com/fhondashadowacetourerfrm67.showMessage?topicID=208.topic Rick The BIKE is why we came, the PEOPLE is why we stay!

You'll need item #1 for the HD risers. Let me know if you have any more questions concerning the install.

Unfortunately, with the Yuku problem I couldn't refer back to Stans notes untl today. THANK YOU STAN FOR WORKING THROUGH THE TRANSITION. Dang I missed
this place!
Here's some useful information / frustration on my upcoming riser project: 1 - I ordered what was advertized to be the same risers (compatible) as what Stan used. As noted above they indicated that they were threaded for 1/2"-13. I also ordered the adapter bolts for the Kow as Stan later found and noted. 2 - These parts arrived and looked ok. However, the adapter bolts wouldn't fit the risers. Come to find out with a little help from a friend in a model shop, the Risers were NOT 1/2"-13. They were threaded with metric 12mm threads. They came with the bolts so I assume they would work fine for their intened application on a HD Deuce. But they didn't fit the adapter bolt I had to use. 3 - When I called to send these back, they claimed this place didn't carry ANYTHING that was metric. But, surprize Harley-Boys ... them there bolts ARE 12mm Metric. The bolt head even has an "M" on it. 4) Today I ordered the same part from another place that promised theirs are 1/2"-13 threads. 5) Now, with the forum back up and running, I referred to Stan's notes where you mention something about Honda needing 12mm bolt somewhere. Does this mean I could have kept, and been better off with, the 12mm threaded HD risers? (Tell me that aint' true so I don't bang my head against the wall A couple more questions: - Stan, will I need to grind the rings of the bottom of the risers, or does it fit in ok as is? - I found a paper you can download on the scootworks site the describes how you should prop up your bike to take the weight off the front wheel and remove the 3T to re-route cables without having to disconnect cables. Is there is a chance that this instruction doesn't apply equally to the Honda? I haven't actually done any of this yet ... so don't take my comments too seriously yet!! Cheers, - Rich |

Start banging your head, Rich. You should have kept the 12mm versions and saved the cost of the adapter bolts. I'm glad to hear that they now offer the
correct bolt size risers for Hondas. The bosses on the bottom of the risers do not have to be ground off and will work fine as is, but some do this for
cosmetic reasons only. I didn't do this myself. Instead, I cut out rubber washers the same thickness as the gap as a filler. An old shock rubber cut in
half worked good for this. You do not have to put bike on a stand to re-route cables. I'll put my contact info in your mailbox so that you can reach me for
faster responce. That is, if I can find the mailbox here.

Ouch .... ahhh .... one thing about banging your head against the wall, it sure feels good when you stop. Too bad I didn't recognize the blessing in
disguise getting the 12mm threaded risers. But it WAS amusing to hear them emphatically claim how they didn't carry anything metric when I called to
return them.

I found a good independent mechanic who helped me with the risers. He was replacing my fork seals and mounted a new back tire so I welcomed the help with the
riser also. We ended up deciding to put a new brake cable since we thought it risky to possibly put too much stress on it by rerouting the cable. The extra
length on the riser sure makes a lot of difference. I had to get used to the handling change, but that probably took 5 minutes.

Will someone please tell me where these adapter bolts can be purchased or do I have to have them custom machined?

Ressless1 added this post on the source for bolts;
[quote;] The adapter from J&P Cycle is a rod about 3 3/4 inch long, with 1/2 thread on the riser end that screws all the way into the Risers. The area in the triple tree is 12 mm, a snug fit without any threads on it, and the bottom 1/2 that sticks out is threaded to use the same nuts and washers off the stock risers. We can't tell any dis-earnable difference, there is no play other than the rubber bushing. The part number is ZZ50385, specifically for a Honda.[unquote] They weren't cheap, near $30, but good quality. We snagged the HD risers off Ebay for less than $20, likewise, good quality stuff, and recommended. Stan
