As you may or may not know the Clinton's "Blessed" Clear Lake, IA by attending out parade. I thought it would be kinda neat, be able to see a
former president fairly close. The problems started even before the parade even got moving. One of the local VFW's boycotted because the Secret Service
wouldn't allow them to fire their rifles as they do every year in the parade. Minor bump, I can live with that. It was kinda cool to see Bill walk past
and wave at people etc. Oh, was that Hillary, sorry, didn't notice. That's when my pain started. We were about 3 blocks fromt he start, so we were
lucky. The Clintons took so long to shake hands, wave, stop for photos, etc... they held up the parade. It was literaly stopped in front of me numerous times
from anywhere from 5 -15 minutes. My kids were bored and hot from sitting on the sun, waiting for more "floats" to come past. I thought the Knights
of Columbus guys were going to pass out from the heat (wearing their black suits/hats/capes). The marching band had to stand in place forever. For the first
time I've ever seen... people got up and left the parade early. It was ridiculous. I don't know who I'd vote for, but after yesterday, I know who
I'm NOT going to vote for. Very inconsiderate.
At least Mitt Romney (sp?) kept moving right along.
Another thing... my house is about a block off the parade route... I have candy wrappers in my yard. What is it with people... it's nice that they throw out candy for the kiddies, but do we have to leave the garbage everywhere? I can't imagine having a houes on the parade route and have to deal with slobs every year. I'd have a big sign... "It's ok if you sit hear, just clean up after yourself!!"
The 4th is my least favorite holiday. Should be a nice one.
Thanks for listening to me vent. I'll get myself righted and back in "happyland". Where's the beer?
