Hello from Oklahoma, just found this forum. Looks like the place
to be if yer (did I mention I'z from Oklahoma) into his Tourer thing. I just recently purchased a 1999 Tourer, 11,800 miles. In a way this is new to me and
in others it's old school. I've been ridin since I was 11 or 12, too many bikes to mention. Like many of you I took a break from owning a scooter to
raise a family. In 1996 I purchased a 1985 VT-1100(1st year for the 1100) that a neighbor had in his front yard, under a tattered tarp that was badly in need
of some attention. Tires, brakes, seat covers, shop built forward controls etc. That was 62,000 miles ago and as you can see from the picture, we needed
something that could carry our stuff with a little less creativity. Just wish I'd known about this forum before buying. Don't get me wrong, this is a
nice bike, BUT, I bought it sight unseen from a dealer in COLORADO. The sorry SOB that owned it apparently over filled
the final drive, which caused it to spray out the vent onto the back wheel, which splattered it all over everything. Then I'd guess he drove it out on the
wet, salt covered roads...and parked it for god knows how long without cleaning a thing. Met the salesman in Hayes Kansas, after dark, test rode it, looked
over the best we could ( I figured it just needed a good bath), loaded it up and brought her home. Boy was I in for a surprise. None of that crap came off.
Anyway, 50 hours later, 3 cans of Never Dull & a package of 000 steel wool & it's lookin like it should. Oh Yea, that new to me part of this. They
really did not have after market stuff for my 85( I-Lean, That's another story). So, I'm just a little overwhelmed with all this STUFF they have out
there. Guess you could say I've been bitten. We've already put a new Mustang seat with drivers back rest on and, I'm lookin for advice on the
Jardine forward controls with mini floor boards. Enough said for now. Later Ya'll, Greg from Oklahoma
