the mornings news here in k.c. is that francis semler has resigned! she holds a non paying job with the parks department.
in an earlier post, i had told how la raza and the the naacp and finally a black christian organization threatened to take their conventions out of k.c. unless this woman resigned.
reason...she's a member of the non-militant group, minutemen, the organization that monitors illegals crossing the u.s. borders. a radio talk show host here in k.c. even spent a week in texas with the minutemen and reported every move they made during that week. said the minutemen gave food, water, and even medical attention to the illegals and never touched them. only watched them 'til the border patrol could arrive and take control.
thing is, these organizations apparently don't understand is they are really hurting the people they are standing up for. the hotel and restaurant business is largely dependent on the black and hispanic service people here in kansas city, and by taking their conventions away, probably many will be layed off. maybe they expect this and that will make more people put pressure on the mayor...whateveer their intentions, it has worked.
really sorry to hear this because it shows kansas city can be controlled by outside sources and the mayor has really caved in to the demands of these organizations. jmo, bud
