HSATF Member Posts: 17 03/13/08 4:39 PM	Tags : None First Posting - Been a member for awhile - very good site - nice to interact ( or read about ) people with common interests. I have gleaned alot of good information (as well as alot of useless but funny information) from your collective experience and postings. I hate to start another seat thread.... butt ........ I am looking for someone who might match my dimesions who has used the Saddlemen Explorer Seat on a T. I tried the Mustang - pushed me up too far, and my weight rested funny. I refuse to get a Corbin (love the seat, hate the price, had a bad customer service experience). I am 6' 3", 250 lbs (hopefully by riding season), I have a 37" inseam. Does anyone out there match these dimensions, and have they tried the Saddlemen Explorer. I like the look of the seat - but have never tried one. Crash

Posts: 5864 03/16/08 12:38 PM	Mike, I have heard two things about the Saddlemen Travelcade seats. One, they have narrow fronts which helps those with shorter legs get their feet flat on the ground easier, but does not provide the thigh support someone with a 37" inseam would need. Two, the gel in their sadddle takes about 1000 miles to break-in and most riders are ready to throw in the towel before that time due to feeling like you are sitting on a blister. I would agree with you I hate the buying experience with Corbin, yet I do love the product. I have been riding with a Corbin Dual Tour Saddle and one backrest for the last 51,000 miles and 7 years. It is the most comfortable seat for someone of my particularities, which include 34.5" inseam and not very well protected ishial tuberosities, i.e. bony butt. If you cannot stand to deal with Corbin I would suggest you find a used Dual Tour Saddle somewhere. Ttust me, your butt will thank you for it, especially if you are planning on riding the distances of full gas tanks at a time, or many hundreds of miles in a day or multiple day thousands of mile trips. I just mounted a new oversized Clearview Shield on my bike - if anyone has thought of dealing with these folks - I would recommend them - good sevice, answered all of my stupid questions, and I thought they were reasonably priced for a custom fit windshield. That being said, I also use an "Air-Hawk" cushion for long rides. BTW, I am 6'4" & approx 225 lbs..Hope this helps...Bob <><

Posts: 759 03/19/08 2:44 PM	Hello Mike and welcome. Before you decide check out Diamond Custom seats. I purchased one a few years ago and the wife and I are very happy with it. It is built to your specifications. They will ask for you and your pasengers weight, height and inseam and build the seat accordingly. They will tweak it as necessary if you so desire after purchase. Mine needed nothing right out of the box.
