Dealer "service"...the dealer that I bought my T from said my bike was "fully serviced", too, and that he'd check the tires, plugs, and gas before we picked it up. There was only FUMES in the tank (and it was pouring rain when we picked it up - if hubby would have run out of gas, it could've been dangerous), there was so little air in the tires it was like riding a sloppy school bus, the battery was so dead it had to be replaced almost immediately, and the plugs were totally fouled from someone test running it with the choke full on. DON'T GET ME STARTED!

Here's a few things I pulled from another forum:

Double check that the fuel petcock is "on", you have fuel in the tank, the kill switch is in the run position (I've bumped mine a few times while cleaning the bike and freaked out when I couldn't start the bike)...the usual suspects....

How old is your battery? With the engine off, the battery should read around 12.5 volts. When the engine is running, it must be rotating at roughly 1,500 rpm or faster before it will begin to charge the battery. With the voltmeter still attached, rev the engine and you should see a reading of approximately 13.5 volts. If it does, then the charging system is operating correctly. When idling, the motorcycle is running off the battery, and if you let it idle too long, it could exhaust the charge in the battery, and the engine may die.

If you have a can of starter fluid or a spray can of carburetor cleaner, try spraying a small amount into your air intake, the try to start the engine. If it fires up, but then dies right way, then you are probably getting spark to the plugs, but not getting fuel to the carbs and you may have to tear them down and clean them. Do NOT keep spraying stuff into the air intake; you may damage the engine that way!

Or check to see if a fuel line is clogged - if it sat for awhile, the gas may have gunked up or trash settled and lowed into the line.
Here's weird one, but check your air box under the seat - sometimes critters get in there and set up housekeeping!

Are you getting spark? Check the plugs. If it looks like you have new plug wires, maybe something isn't seated correctly.

Check to make sure wiring is all connected properly - sometimes one little wire that lets loose can cause a world of frustration!
