I have always been reluctant to use any polish for hot chrome surfaces (exhaust/mufflers). Are there products that can safely protect and put a shine on these
areas without staining or discoloring the chrome?

You may not believe this, but I use Orange Pledge on EVERYTHING and that includes exhaust pipes with no dis-coloration. It cleans everything.

Turtle Wax Chrome Polish. Avoid products that have a lot of Carnauba Wax in it. Never put any wax or polish on them while the surfaces are still hot. As Alain
has said, lemon or orange Pledge is good for about anything on the bike.
