One thing I noticed about the Cobra Floorboards that annoyed me a little was that the right side floorboard was a little floppy. By that I mean that the spring that is suppose to keep the floorboard down is weak. The right side floorboard flops up and down just a little. It impressed me that this floorboard could rattle quite a bit if my foot wasn't on it. It appears that I can pull the pin and take the spring off. I might be able to twist the spring enough to put tension back into it so that it holds the floorboard down on the forks with tension. The left side is fine and is so tight that it serves as a model as to what the right-side should be like. This is no biggy. I am going to call Cobra later this morning and ask if they can possibly send me a new spring(s). From previous postings I know that the folks at Cobra are good to deal with.
I'll still mount the floorboards this weekend and give my T a good bath and get some road time in. The weather this Saturday is suppose to be 74 and sunny. So a little yard work, a good bike cleaning and a long ride.
UPDATE: I did call Cobra and spoke with "Bob" in customer service. It seems that what I am experiencing is a common problem with the Cobra right-side floorboards. Bob said that the "engineers" have tried to re-engineer the spring by adding another twist but this does not work. I asked about a spring replacement but Bob said that this will not solve the problem based on previous experience with spring replacements. The remedy to the solution will have to be my own. Bob and I talked about the possibility of using a Velcro pad which has very good adhesion and a soft side to it. I'm not bothered by this and I appreciated the honestly with which Cobra dealt with the problem.
